My husband does not like bed and breakfasts for some unknown reason yet I am sure he would have enjoyed this lovely bed and breakfast had he been here. Gordon and Vanda are excellent helpful friendly host and hostess and nothing is too much trouble for them. I was able to do my washing and hang it out on the clothes line in their garden for which I am grateful. Breakfast was excellent and very generous helpings. My room was serviced daily and towels replaced daily too. Gordon and Vanda were able to advise places to visit and how to get there. I commuted to Cambridge twice by train and enjoyed the walk to the station and accommodation was definitely cheaper than staying in Cambridge itself. The bonus was Bury has lots to offer the tourist itself, it is a very pretty and interesting town. Thanks Gordon and Vanda for a lovely time. I would recommend 83 Whiting Street to my friends and fellow travellers. It is almost in the centre of the town too so returning from dinner by walking is quite safe.

We hired three rooms for a friends wedding and had an excellent stay here. The building is a charming pink terraced period property within one hundred metres of the traditional city centre. The rooms were clean, wifi was good and the beds comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and served in an incredibly attractive dining room with an ornate fireplace. The weather wasn't on our side, but the rear garden looked very inviting also. The host Gordon was charming and was very forgiving of our late (and presumably noisy) return after the wedding. overall a great find and far more charming than the equivalent hotels in the area.

Stayed just 1 night with my husband. Owner organised secure overnight parking for husband's new car. Room very comfy and enabled us to relax after journey up from Reading. Great location right in town centre. Not noisy at all thanks to effective secondary double glazing. Lovely historic building, particularly the breakfast room with its early 16th century wall fresco and gorgeous brick fireplace. Full English breakfast was delicious. Owners very hospitable. Would definitely go back again if in the area.|

Stayed here for one night, I was working at The Apex. Very close to all the amenities. I arrived and Gordon greeted me, it was inviting, cosy and warm and so very homely. My room was at the top of the house and was light and airy and again, so cosy and warm. Slept well and had a lovely breakfast and was greeted by Gordons wife Vana. They were so kind and sweet as they drove me back to the station too! A beautiful house steeped in history with the added bonus of these wonderful hosts.

Over the last few years I have stayed in well over a hundred B&Bs in England and Wales. This one is in my top ten. The house is beautiful and dates from the 16th Century. It is bright and sunny and has every modern facility. It is situated in a quiet street in the centre of this lovely town about 15 mins walk from the railway station. Gordon offered to pick me up on arrival and drop me off for my trip home. Excellent breakfasts and good value. Highly recommended.

lovley old property with lots of character. The service we recieved was second to none the owner could not be more helpful. Parking was sorted for us and he was waiting at the door when we arrived to show us where.||The room was a good size and spotlessly clean. location was perfect for all the sites. Breakfast was excellent and in a beautiful dining room. Could not fault any aspect of our stay at 83 whiting St, and loved Bury St Edmunds.

Picture this - the front door swings open to reveal a welcoming host, framed in the doorway of a spacious book lined hall. The immediate feeling is of warmth, and understated comfort, in this historic townhouse. I slept soundly and enjoyed a delicious 'full English'. Uncomplicated and relaxed, and excellent value.||I look forward to returning to see Gordon & Vana, who are genial hosts, and consummate professionals.

Called in when visiting Bury St Edmunds for a breakfast. Had a full English which came quick and was very nice.|Do other items on menu. Café was clean and staff friendly. Location was near the town centre and not far from the bus station.
