The food was absolutely delicious in lovely surroundings, but it was the staff who made the visit memorable. They went out of their way to help and they were genuinely happy, helpful, and kind. We will be going back again soon to taste more of what appealed from the menu!

Went here as a last minute Google find after another pub in the region declined to host a baby in a high chair. They don't need the publicity however. ? We don't know the local area but believe the middle bell has recently returned after being closed. The food was hearty and healthy (very large salad portions), half roast chicken could have done with a Gravy but the kids were happy and the ham terrine well seasoned. Good stop for any tourists passing through or staying near by such as wychnor.

Very pleased to have chosen this for a weeknight treat.

We dropped in on a Wednesday evening, meal for 2. Had a full 3 courses in the end, and a glass of wine. We rounded up with a tip to £80.

We both had chicken for starters with the Thai honey dressing (and a mystery ingredient that still haunts me - yuzu maybe?). Mains were hoisin duck with noodle and pork belly (as pictured). For dessert we enjoyed a creme brûlée each.

The food was very nice and the atmosphere and decor made for an enjoyable, relaxed setting.

The staff were a delight ? Eve, Tom, and George (in order of appearance) were charming, full of good humour, professional, and looked after us well.

Wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

As a hauler who travels frequently, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting The Middle Bell in Barton Under Needwood several times since its takeover in March. Each visit has been a delightful experience!

The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the owners truly bring the place to life with their enthusiasm and friendliness. It’s clear they are passionate about creating a welcoming atmosphere for all their guests.

Now, let’s talk about the food! The pizzas here are absolutely delicious—crispy crust, fresh toppings, and bursting with flavor. I recently tried the belly pork, and it was nothing short of delightful. Cooked to perfection, it was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, making it one of the best dishes I’ve enjoyed in a while.

The service is consistently great as well. The staff are attentive and make sure your dining experience is enjoyable from start to finish.

I highly recommend The Middle Bell for anyone in the area, whether you're a local or just passing through. It’s a gem that deserves recognition, and I look forward to many more visits in the future!

Excellent food, each bit of the pork dinner was tasty in its own right, then a wonderful desert. Good selection of drinks, inches, bass, red stripe and others. Good prices and cheap considering the quality.

We had our Sunday lunch club pay a visit here last Sunday, the service was excellent, posh prawn cocktail was yummy, my belly pork was delicious, our friends who had beef ( one pink, one well done) my husband had the pork. All served by happy, friendly staff and the food was just perfect. We will be returning.
Also the house champagne is amazing.

Amazing Sunday lunch. The pub is recently under new management. Very reasonably priced. Every single item was cooked to perfection. But.... The gravy was different level! They need to bottle & sell it! Superb service from Amy too. Brilliant afternoon.

The new management has made a phenomenal difference at The Middle Bell, bringing it back on the map as one of the best pubs in Barton under Needwood. The pub has returned to its roots, serving as a fantastic village pub for the local community while also being a destination worth traveling to for its outstanding food and service.

During the recent England games, they provided free food at halftime. This wasn't just a snack or a pack of crisps, but a genuine feast, reminiscent of the feeding of the 5,000 football fans—a fantastic gesture that was greatly appreciated by all who enjoyed the game and of course the food...!

The new management has truly perfected the formula for a great pub, earning a well-deserved 5-star rating from me. The Middle Bell is highly recommended and a standout among the great pubs in Barton under Needwood.
