We really enjoy staying at this pleasant Hotel and Country club. The rooms are comfortable, the leisure club is small but well equipped, and the Windsor restaurant is superb, with a constantly changing menu. The staff are friendly and could n9t be more helpful. One tiny quibble, the rooms do not have any coat hooks. Tricky in Yorkshire weather! But otherwise, a truly great English country hotel.

Stayed mid week, Fleur on reception was lovely, however there was another lady who saw us and quickly turned her back to avoid helping us while chatting away to another staff member and left us waiting while Fleur finished a phone call. Not a great first impression. We stayed in the lodge rooms which were disappointing for the price- think more annex than lodge. Very noisy machine buzzing outside the window all nice and I imagine it was the staff car park outside the window as well as lots of people arriving in the morning and shouting hello.
Dinner choices were limited, but the restaurant staff were very nice, friendly and efficient.
I work as a travel co ordinator and would not recommend.

We had a wonderful stay and were very impressed by the excellent staff. We visited for a Michael Bublé tribute night, which was fantastic value for money. The food was outstanding, and the service throughout was exceptional.||Breakfast offered a great variety, with a delicious selection of both continental and traditional British cooked options. On our second day, there was a wedding at the hotel. It was lively and fun to watch, but it made the atmosphere busier and noisier, something to keep in mind if you’re staying on a weekend.||We opted for the dinner, bed, and breakfast package, and the evening meal was superb. The wine selection was also very good. A special mention to Emily, who ran the evening—she was absolutely lovely, attentive, and made sure we had a fantastic dining experience.||We stayed in Room 2, located in the main castle. It’s a lovely room with amazing views and a double-aspect layout, but it is directly above the function room. If there’s an event like a wedding, you’ll hear the music extremely loud in the evening. This wasn’t an issue for us as we stayed up until after 11 p.m., but it’s worth noting if you’re looking for a quieter night, it is maybe something the hotel should consider when booking rooms for guests. ||Overall, we had a relaxing and enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!

We had some disappointing wedding venue viewings and my (now) wife stumbled upon this venue. We booked, everything was perfect and any mistakes made by a temporary wedding planner was quickly sorted by Laura, she was amazing from start to finish! We had a 3 day stay and one of those was our wedding day! And from start to finish everything was absolutely amazing! Laura and Colin made the day so special along with the rest of the team! And I’d highly recommend Jess who works at the Salon for your hair too! And Jill for the decor who is so talented at what she creates! The stay, the grounds, the staff, the food! Absolutely everything was perfect! We cannot wait to come back to celebrate our anniversary!

A wet and windy weekend made very pleasant by the staff.. we had a lovely stay despite several events taking place whilst we were there - including a wedding. The hotel had a very friendly feel to it - and lovely food (compliments to the chef!) A couple of tweaks would have made this 5 star .. first, we were there for a spa break .. but couldn't get hold of a robe from either the gym or reception (even the we offer to rent / pay for one) .. which seemed a bit peculiar .. and on the second night we walked into the usual dining room only to find it had been booked for a private group meal and the main meal was elsewhere .... some notice in our room or a sign on the door would have helped! However, overall a lovely stay and somewhere we would be happy to go back to

I have two comments that I hope will help . Neither had a huge impact on my stay but I think are worthy of mention .
1. My room (33) was dark with very little natural light . There was just one window with see through glass and the view was a brick wall ! I should have been warned of this and given an option of another room even at a higher price . Generally I prefer natural to artificial light .
2. There should always be a toilet brush in the loo !

Looks amazing from the outside but run like Fawlty Towers on the inside. Had a cheerful drink in the bar before dinner and the team there is super. Restaurant in the evening leaves a-lot to be desired though. Diners can hear the ding of the microwave before each course and the food quality is NOT up to the guest expectations when visiting a ‘Castle’. The evening service team could use a personality check and drop the ‘prison guard’ demeanor !!! Additionally, I highly recommend they loose the inappropriate ‘canned’ music being played loudly at all mealtimes… although the servers clearly enjoy it as they were whistling along. ||Accommodation is a separate matter and could quite easily be improved with fairly little effort.|Window curtain in our Four Poster suite room was broken and dropping ( see photo), hangers in the closet were from 10 different sets, the drain in the bathroom smelled horrible, the two water glasses were so dirty and sticky that when you lifted the glass, the under saucer was stuck to it. ||I think the most disappointing part was that we arrived early evening on a cold damp night and their large reception fireplace was NOT lit. When we asked if it was possible to have it lit so we could enjoy it after our dinner, we were told that it was NOT possible because only the General Manager could do that, and of course… he’d gone home. ||On a more positive note, the Christmas decorations around the exterior and public areas were amazing. Unfortunately, no one thought to follow through with any seasonal decor in the guest rooms or suites which would have been very welcome.

Great welcome . Rooms clean and spacious. Food delivered to room as functioning bistro . Great breakfast everything you could want including very rare offering of dried fruits and nuts for cereals. Tracy is a star waitress. Used the lovely 19 m pool in gorgeous spa area
