Worth a visit especially if not on a cold day like we did .
First time I've been to some ancient ruins when we are allowed to climb on the ruins.
Worth using the audio headsets too - no extra cost and good shop/exhibition centre.

What a great place to visit ! You get a real understanding of how the Romans lived in the area. The ruins are quite extensive and cover a big area. You can buy a guidebook or use the free audio guide to accompany you on the numbered route. It's almost like a mini Pompeii. Well worth a visit. Free if you are English Heritage members or pre book tickets online as 15% cheaper. Free car park, no cafe but a nice shop and small display centre.

We visited this place as soon as it opened up and the staff was so welcoming at 7:58.

The museum area was excellently set up, and I enjoyed going through reading all the information.

One you're outside, you are kind of in shock of what you are seeing.

It was truly something that you would not forget.

I highly recommend everyone come here and a great place to bring the kids.

A fascinating Roman site with a number of excavated buildings. The small museum, the granaries, and the remains of the main street through the town are particularly interesting. Well worth visiting if you're interested in history and free if you have an English Heritage membership.

What a great UNESCO world heritage site, if you like anything Roman then you must visit this place, and don't forget to collect your audio tour on the way in, as it will explain things better for you, also theres plenty of information boards dotted around that you should read as well, we've been to Rome and this definitely matches sites in Rome, if not better than some.

This was a good experience to see the amazing roman ruins - technology and such that was way advanced in the ages. What we really enjoyed was the audio guide that discussed what and where everything was; I don't think the experience would have been as good otherwise.

The only downside was that I planned this trip to see Hadrian's Wall (as based on the name of the site) and within the first 2 minutes of the audio guide, it states that the wall is 1.5 miles away...not here.

The staff here are great, and they pointed us in the direction of the next few places we needed to add to our itinerary to see what we drove 6 hours to see 🙈 🤣...Housesteads Roman Fort (the wall is here).

In all, still a great experience and I highly recommend visiting.

Loved the whole experience for the kids. They had been learning about the Roman invasion and been able to see first hand the impact was really good. The vocal aid to describe each section was really useful. Staff were lovely.
