Rosie, Dicken, and Lola are caring and resourceful hosts, eager to make you welcome and comfortable and share a bit of their country life with you--including the delicious breakfasts prepared from farm-fresh ingredients. The very old farm house has a charming and authentic feel--comfortable, but not artificially spiffed up. The location couldn't be better for exploring the area--so rich in natural beauty and history. Visiting at Black Hall, chatting with the hosts, you get a feeling of visiting an actual community in Northumbria. We hope we can return someday.

We have just had a wonderful walking weekend staying at Black Hall. It is a beautiful old house at the end of a long drive so blissfully quiet. A welcoming fire and we all had lovely very clean comfortable bedrooms. The breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and would go back any day. Lord Crewe Arms is a great place to eat in Blanchland.

The best accommodation we have ever stayed in. Stayed here the night before and the night of our wedding. The room was incredible, with stunning views and beautiful quirky decor. The owners couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful, making us feel like old friends rather than paying guests. The breakfast was divine - I have honestly never tasted bacon like it! We have already requested a repeat booking. I can't sing this places praises enough - loved it!

We were booked in for one night at Black Hall and the trip started off on the wrong foot, we got lost trying to find the property and had to call Rosie a couple of times to get directions, finally, she came out to look for us and lead us the rest of the way. Once we got to Black Hall, we found the property to be stunning and the gardens are beautiful! We were shown to our rooms and the pictures online don't do them justice, the rooms were comfortable, large and airy. My husband and I booked the 4 poster room with the large bay windows and the huge 4 poster bed. It was simply amazing. Since we got in late, Rosie advised us on near by places to eat and even called ahead to see who was open, she then went even further to drive ahead to show us where to go we wouldn't get lost again! ||||Breakfast the next morning was huge, filling and delicious but the best part of Black Hall were our hosts, Rosie, Dickon and "Lollypops". They are the most gracious friendly family, funny and witty and really go out of their way to make a person feel extremely comfortable in their beautiful home. I have nothing but great memories and great things to say about Black Hall and recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay.

There are B&Bs, and then there are B&Bs that are in a different league….and this is one of them. Arriving a little damp from Durham, we were warmly welcomed to a lovely old farmhouse with history, character and a very nice log fire and tea….followed by some very nice sloe gin - great treat! The bed was wonderful, the location tranquil, the owners very friendly and interesting, and the breakfast (full English) was absolutely top notch. One small downside was the relatively weak shower (already mentioned to owners). Otherwise lovely and well worth finding this place in the countryside south of Hexham. Definitely one for us to revisit!

What can I say other than Black Hall is the most amazing place to stay if you want a relaxing, peaceful get away with the best of accommodation and personal, friendly hospitality - you really feel part of the family. We have stayed with Rosie, Dickon and Lola three times now and can't wait to return (just need to get the grandparents to kindly babysit again!). We stay in the Wellingtonia Room and it is beautifully furnished with real eclectic style and has fabulous views over the unspoilt countryside and farm/wild life. Every little detail is anticipated to make you comfortable and you are made to feel at home as soon as you cross the threshold. I particularly like the bed or rather the mattress - if you need a good nights sleep, wow it's just so comfortable!!! The only problem is that you have to get up next morning to investigate the gorgeous smell which is breakfast. Wonderfully prepared, very often from their own pigs, served in front of a roaring fire with flowers from the garden on the table. It's just idyllic I could go on on. Go on just try it - but please don't tell everyone its our secret!!! ||Rosie we will be back very soon for your very own brand of tlc xxxx

We stayed in this B and B on the weekend and loved everything about it. The room was spacious, with great furniture and wonderful views of the garden, complete with free roaming chickens and guinea fowl. The owners were attentive and caring and very personable. The breakfast included sausages and bacon from their own pigs and tasted great.

We stayed at Black Hall for a friends wedding and we had a very enjoyable stay.||||This was our second visit to the B&B and once again, the accommodation, breakfast and friendly home-owners made our stay extremely enjoyable.||||We would highly recommend this B&B for anyone seeking a pleasant weekend in the countryside.
