We visited Thornley House garden as it was part of the Red Cross Open Gardens scheme. We didn't go into the house or stay there so can't comment on the rooms. However, the garden was lovely and everyone (including the cats) was absolutely brilliant. There were lots of places to sit in the sun or shade and enjoy the delicious tea and cakes. The cat cemetery in the wood was touching, a calm and beautiful resting place. We all thought it would be a great place to stay.

I could laugh at the people who have under rated this ladies place..... At the end of the day it states on the website that this lady is a lover of cats,so it's more than clear this is what you should expect if you do visit.....If you don't like the idea of a few cat hairs(which is to be expected)... Then don't book in,but no need to have this opinion when you must've known before you booked.I think this lady's doing a great job and thats what this establishment is all about.... It's not like you don't know there's going to be cats there.ex

We booked here for a weekend break because as the website advertises, we are lovers of fine cats! We brought one of our own cats, CC with us as she's diabetic and needs insulin shots twice a day, this was no problem and she settled in fine despite the resident cats being very intrigued by her! We were looked after by Shirley who was very welcoming and did more than enough to make us feel at home - as did the cats! We are planning to return in the summer so we can enjoy the gardens too. We loved the cat themes in the decor and the breakfast was amazing.

We stayed over the weekend (24th august) as we seen this B&B on 4 in a bed and we just had to go since we are cat lovers. Eileen was very welcoming when we arrived, she made us tea and home made scones with jam where we sat outside in her lovely garden with so many nooks and crannys. We done the thornley house trail where it takes you to the pet cemetry. she no longer has the donkeys but she does have two beautiful horses. Now this place is for cat lovers and you will fall in love with all of them. ||The room was clean and the private bathroom and toilet were also clean. Facilities are good. The views from the bedroom window are spectacular . Eileen has this lovely tree in her garden and it was covered in butterflys. For the evening we visited allendale which is only a 15-20 minute walk. (can take longer coming back as its uphill) It is tranquil and relaxing . Breakfast was good, Eileen has fresh fruit, cereals and a lovely cooked breakfast. All in all it was a delight to stay and we would definatley go back

Totally amazing. If you love cats this is it, your search is over and you have arrived! This place is run by friendly cats and staff. It's a lovely rural place near great walks and scenery. There's an Indian and pub nearby and the cooked breakfast we got was first rate. Friendly Maine Coons are always hanging around and we met Shirley (non cat) who was a fabulous host. Not one bad thing to say, we'll be back!!

This beautiful house is hidden down a short gravel road. No shops for miles in fact nothing. Perfect if you want that peaceful rest. Quirky filled with things collected on the owners travels around the world. You might see her cats on your travels. Beautiful wrap around garden with hammocks and places to sit. We slept well in the comfy beds and everything so clean. Breakfast was good too especially the sausages. I would do research before you come as we didnt see a welcome pack of places to visit but there is wifi. Nothing around you but beautiful greenery and only sounds of the local lambs and birdys

Does not derserve a star rating as the dump is not worth anything as the lady who runs it has no idea who to treat people. AVOID at all costs.||NOT a nice owner. More wrapped about the cats instead of humans and food terrible full of hairs. NO T GOOD!
