A well run old school B&B offering great value for money and genuine hospitable service. I stayed for 2 weeks whilst excavating at Vindolanda and it offered the best of both worlds with a continental breakfast as well as a fully equipped kitchen for dinner preparation. Throw in the use of a drying room, washing machine and dryer and it made a very convenient base. I would definitely use the same accommodation if I return to the area, which I hope I will do!|

A super place to stay with comfortable, well appointed rooms. The self serve breakfast is really convenient and the location is near to shops, restaurants and a nice river walk. Stayed for 4 days when walking central part of Hadrians Wall- couldn’t have been better. Kitchen allowed me to prep own food if I didn’t feel like going out and washing machine and drying room were a god send. Brian the host couldn’t have been more helpful. Would highly recommend this friendly home from home with extras

A late review. We visited in May. Informal service with well provisioned self service continental breakfast. Comfy beds and good shower. Good recommendations for local eating out. Good central location for Hadrians Wall. Liz and Ian

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Reading Room. The accommodation was clean, well maintained and pleasant- exactly what we needed. However the highlight was definitely their service- Brian was a wonderful host who went above and beyond to make our trip to Hadrians wall as easy as possible. ||Would definitely come back!

Truly a gem in Northern England. The room was comfortable, and I probably got one of the best nights sleep of my life in the peace and serenity.

The owner is also a fantastic gentleman. Not only is he more than happy and willing to answer any questions you may have, but he even gave me a lift on a Sunday when the train service at Haydon’s Bridge got canceled.

If I’m coming up to see Hadrian’s Wall again, I will 100% be returning. Thank you again for a truly peaceful stay.

Really nice place, owner was very friendly and helpful. Secure storage for bikes in the shed. Loved the self service breakfast, no cooked breakfast but plenty of choice.|Lovely view of the river out of the bedroom window. Place is situated right in the middle of the village.

Lovely place to spend a few days and explore Hadrians Wall and surrounding area. Great host and the help yourself breakfast was generous and suited us to a tee. Very good advice on where to eat and places to visit
