I recently visited Weldon with a group of friends for a long weekend. We visited both of the pubs in the village and found both to be friendly and welcoming, despite both being very busy on Friday and Saturday night.
We visited the George Weldon on the Saturday for something to eat and a few beers. The pub was very busy but also friendly. We couldn't initially get seats together, due to the size of our group, but managed to get a couple of tables together a little later. We all ordered food, which was really tasty, service was very good and reasonably priced.
We stayed for a few more beers, and couldn't fault the place. Lovely atmosphere, great service and very friendly. Well worth a visit.

Spent a lovely family day at the George for Easter. The staff were very friendly & very keen to help. The food was amazing & well presented. It was busy but the food came in good time & was enjoyed by us all. A wonderful day & really happy with the great food & service we received. Lovely staff & good quality food. Highly Recommended to all.

My Son and I stopped off here for a Sunday lunch. Expecting it to be busy, but wasn't. The service was prompt from the friendly staff. The roast was lovely nice and hot and tasty too..our only grumble being we should have gone for a small roast. Thank you. Recommended

I was really looking forward to dining here after reading the reviews but after our experience I would never recommend eating here. We arrived at 1720 and ordered two toad in the holes for a steep price when the kitchen opened at 1730. Our food arrived around 1800, which felt a long time, and tasted as though it had all been cooked from frozen. The food really was poor and seemingly had been waiting on a hot plate for a long time, the sausages were like rubber (so much so the first bite was spat out by my company!) and the gravy was cold. I couldn’t understand the poor quality given that the kitchen had only just opened..? The drinks at the bar were quite cheap so I can imagine this is an ok place to go for a pint after work but I won’t be returning unfortunately. I did consider complaining as I would’ve liked a refund given but the pub didn’t have a very welcoming feel and I was worried about how it would be received by the one member of staff chatting with regulars seated by the bar. Very disappointed.

Nicely redecorated but food wasn't up to usual standard. Is it new people ?
However the young lady who was serving and on the bar was very good. We were a large party and she seemed to be doing everything except cook on her own. Well done to her. Hoping it's just teething troubles .
