Stayed one night here with family for a local championship football game. Hotel is a bit dated but not in a bad way. Lots of interesting historical info on the walls of the hotel. Location is good, 5min walk to bus station and gun wharf area. Outlet shopping centre also close by. Staff are nice to deal with, without being too helpful. Room was nice, had everything I needed. Bed was very comfy. Restaurant and bar food available, we did not dine here. The breakfast was very average, scrambled egg was a watery gruel consistency, I took one bite and regretted it, also the black pudding was rock hard. Overall it was suitable location for our needs.

Reasonable room but great price considering it was a Saturday night in December so we were happy! |Facilities clean and inviting. |Staff - particularly reception staff, were fabulous! The phone booking was friendly and efficient as was our greeting on arrival.|Parking first come first served & unfortunately there were no spaces left when we arrived. Luckily we work close so had a permit to park elsewhere otherwise I think itโ€™s about ยฃ12 per 24 hours in the car park across the road . ||Restaurant was not good. We reserved a table for 8:30 but arrived a little early & the restaurant was all but empty. It was clear they wanted to simply close the kitchen. Starters were ok, but both main meals were microwaved pork belly that was soggy in places but tough as boot leather. We complained & was told the kitchen couldnโ€™t make us anything else. Then the manager came over & reversed this decision. My husband then had the flat iron steak & I had chicken skewers. Both were edible but uninviting. The skewers were akin to the frozen ones from Iceland!

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, cannot fault out stay at all. I booked a deluxe room which was so spacious, the bathroom had a Jacuzzi bath in which was an amazing surprise. Both the bedroom and bathroom were cleaned to a high standard as well.||We ate both nights at Horatio's, the food was delicious, and both food and drinks were very well priced. Our server Diana was so attentive, helpful and friendly, a credit to the company for sure. Breakfast was also yummy, with lots of options.|We loved the old school feel and vintage decor of the hotel in the main lobby, and the room was modern, the bed so comfortable and really good amenities. Cannot wait to return!

As others have mentioned, the hotel is a bit dated, but clean and comfortable.

The basic rooms only have single sockets next to the bed, behind the bedside tables for the lamps, so nothing to charge or power anything else, e.g. phone overnight.

Bathrooms are basic but functional, the complementary biscuits and hot chocolate with the tea and coffee is a nice touch.

The breakfast options have some good variety, but generally standard fayre.

The hotel's location is it's biggest plus point, very close to the historic dockyard, and easy walking distance to the Gunwharf Quays outlet.

Parking infront of the hotel is extremely limited, so don't count on a space being available when you need it.

We stayed in a family room ( 3 adults + 1 child) in the October half term for 3 nights. ||Room|The room consisted of 1 bedroom with a double bed and an adjoining room with a single bed and a bunk bed (2 bunks) + 1 bathroom with tub. The room we had was a bit outdated and could do with some refurbishment. However it was clean and comfortable and we didn't spend that much time in the hotel anyway. ||Restaurant|We had Sunday lunch (carvery) and breakfast each morning. Nothing special, but good and clean. Breakfast had all the usual offerings, maybe missing some cheese and meats but plenty to start your day. ||Pool|There is a small pool, but it's great to have in a hotel.. especially with a little one. The pool was lovely and warm however the changing rooms in comparison were freezing! ||Location & parking|Perfect location for exploring Gun Wharf and the Royal Dockyard. |We were lucky enough to get one of the spots outside the hotel, although I do understand there is a public car park just opposite. The spots in front of the hotel are hard to come by, in the 3 days we were there we never saw a spot free so we heeded the advice given by reception and didn't move our car! We didn't find we needed to as everything was walking distance...even for a 5yr old. |

I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is well kept and feels unique, the staff are friendly, the rooms are comfortable, the breakfast is decent, and the rates are really good. All this in a location that makes exploring easy and you've got a great choice for a stay.||My only criticism is that the heating is quite loud, but that's minor compared to all the good points

Our room was lovely such a shame the reception lady wasn't as nice.
The breakfast was simple but good filled us up for the day ahead.
Location is good 5 min walk to shopping centre but only down side is that there is limited parking and having to park on a residential street 5 min walk away and having to pay ยฃ6 to park is a nightmare but that is the only downside.

First time i have stayed here parking is a bit of a problem. Had a good room but the bed was small which is odd as the room could have a much bigger bed with no problem. Breakfast was ok but you did not always get the same thing down to the chefs who are on. But with all that in mind this would not stop me going back time after time
