Red Lion is our treasured local. The prices are very good and the flavour of the food always is great. They have very quick service and are always rushed off their feet on a weekend for breakfasts. Much better quality food than some other local pubs in the area. We have moved away now from Cosham but still travel back to eat food here as it a favourite place of ours.

Brilliant food, Steak and Guinness pie was really good. Weirdly the highlight for me was the kids food. Too often the food served to children is on the ‘cost effective’ side and therefore lacks quality. This could not be said for this food. The gougons are fresh fish and real cod. My 5 year old loved it and I enjoyed what was left. The pizzas are really good too.

Service with a smile, friendly environment and dog friendly too.

I was nervous about staying as on arrival in Portsmouth of allll the places I could’ve booked my friend said “u ain’t booked the red lion in cosham av ya” well I had so this had me worried. Overall it was alright though. The bed and shower were excellent so I left feeling ok. On reflection there were a few issues though. Upon arrival there was an issue with payment of the booking. Not the hotels fault but felt the staff were a bit blunt. First impressions of the place were very good; even the hallways were freshly decorated! Loved the bathroom. And like I say the bed was amazingly comfortable. £5.90 for a pint of beer (peroni top) is steep. The barmaid informed me the prices changed the day before! I feel housekeeping needs auditing. Whislt first impressions are excellent when u start checking things dirt is certainly there. Missed breakfast because the bed was so comfy. There were positives and negatives and in general my stay was ok but £80 for one night is slightly overpriced and not value for money in my opinion. I wouldn’t stay here again but I wasn’t as bad as my friend hd implied!

Wow, wow, WOW! What service, and delicious food! Family lunch out, the most amazing garlic bread to start. Bread so light, didn't feel full which l was thankful for!

I had the fish, which was beautiful. Batter light, and salad was fresh and tasty - asked for salad 🥗 instead of chips, no trouble at all.

Pizza awesome, and you can take home any you don't finish!

Would definitely come back, going to check out their breakfast menu next time!!

Used the hotel as a stop off on the way back from a group trip to France. We were delayed on the ferry and gave them a quick call. They were very understanding and stayed up past midnight for us! They were very friendly, despite the time and even allowed us to buy a nightcap! The rooms were very well appointed, with loads of plugs and usb ports for charging, comfy bed, coffee and even a nice big tv. very quiet despite being next to road. Breakfast was great value and tasty. Definitely recommend!

We had a fantastic breakfast! The food was brilliant and value for money. Service was spot on and Paul was very helpful. Recommended and I will visit again.
