Woodcote Park Golf Club - Coulsdon

I played at Woodcote Park Golf Course with my son, who is a member, on November 2nd. We’ve played here multiple times, and usually, it’s a great experience. The course itself is fantastic, and the club staff and other members are friendly and welcoming. However, today’s experience was affected by the behaviour of a few specific members, which is why I am leaving this rating.

Ahead of us, a few groups were playing a Stableford competition, so the pace was slower. My son and I were patient and waited when needed, and on the greens, we played as quickly as possible to avoid holding up players behind us.

At the 9th hole, our drives had both landed on the fairway, and we were in a good position to go straight for the green with our second shots. We were patiently waiting on the fairway for the group in front to finish their putts on the green. Once the group ahead cleared, we immediately went for the green. My shot landed close to the pin, but my son’s ball ended up in a bunker. It took him a few attempts to get out, so we spent a little longer on the green than usual, but still within a reasonable time.

Unfortunately, the group behind us (three ladies and one gentleman, all members) grew impatient. They started shouting at us to hurry and gesturing with their clubs for us to “get off the green” while my son still had a six-foot putt left. To avoid unnecessary conflict , I asked my son to leave the green without finishing. Ironically, the group ahead had only just teed off as we moved on.

While we were waiting for tee-off at the 10th hole, one of the ladies then approached me, criticising we shouldn’t spend so much time on the green and commented that she’d never seen two people “hold up” four. I responded that they must not have noticed how slow the groups in front were and that, if anything, we were moving faster than the groups around us. But they seemed to not listen to us, and even worse is that rest of her group mates all started to complain about our "slow play". I tried my best to explain the situation, and I was sure they also had seen the long queue in front us, but I felt that they just wanted to dump all their frustrations on us even though it was not us holding them up.

To summarise, the behaviour of these particular members was both rude and unfair, as they placed the blame for slow play on us despite clear delays from the groups ahead. Such actions negatively impact the club’s reputation, and I hope the club takes members’ conduct and courtesy into account more carefully when renewing memberships and admitting new members.

Amaizing I was so surprised at the condition of the course it was really good considering the rain we have had played all main greens & tees lovely club house as well great atmosphere

Great golf course, club and staff!

Have been playing here as a visitor for the last year or so and I have put off writing a review as I didn't really want to give away my 'secret' find.

The course is always in fantastic condition at any time of the year and is great value for money considering just how close to central London it is.

All the staff (pro shop, bar, greenkeepers etc.) are super friendly and helpful and there's a really happy and buzzy atmosphere among members and guests. Wish I had the time to play more!

Golf course was in great condition and we enjoyed our round. The lady in the pro shop was so miserable and unfriendly, just awful. Initially gave the impression guests weren’t allowed for reciprocal members, said it was very unusual. Was so unhelpful when a playing partner asked for a score card and just scowled at him! Obviously a bad day for her and she was in a foul mood.
