We stayed for one night. The room was clean and had a great view of the river. The staff were cheerful and it was very positive. Overnight there was a serious problem, probably with the heating, which made an appalling amount of noise and prevented any sleep. The management were quite excellent in dealing with it all in the morning and we left feeling very impressed by their attitude and - genuinely - their generosity in how they dealt with us. Absolutely first class.

Excellent location, just a lovely short walk along the river to the centre of Cambridge. A series of traditional old houses joined together so lots of stairs, including in my bedroom between the bathroom and the rest of the room, which was a surprise! The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The food in the restaurant was good on the first night, which was a Saturday. The staff were helpful. I would have given this hotel an excellent rating were it not for two things. I had not realised that they did not serve any food on a Sunday evening, which was disappointing as I had to go out again. I thought they could have offered at least a limited menu in the bar. I was also very disappointed to be charged £18 per night for parking in the hotel car park, which I thought was very high. It felt punative, as this was charged as I had booked through a booking site rather than with the hotel direct ( in which case parking would have been free). This was also not clear when I booked.

I think as a hotel at this price is very good! The room is clean and the room is not small. Besides, the scenery outside the window is very beautiful. It seems like an idyllic small town: quiet and peaceful. What’s more, the service is very good. It also includes the breakfast. The bread, fruit and yogurt are all delicious. After all, it’s a very good hotel!

After reading the reviews I didn’t know what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. There was plenty of free parking (free if you book direct), and a warm welcome at reception. We’d booked a room for 3. It was on the 3rd floor over looking the river. We walked into a room with a double bed and a small separate room off of it with a single bed. The beds were comfy. Clean towels supplied in the ensuite, kettle with tea, coffee, and hot chocolate sachets and biscuits. We found the continental breakfast very nice and friendly staff. The room and corridors are a little tired and maybe in need of a deep clean but all in all a good over night stay.

Chose this hotel because it is an easy walk to the centre and has a huge carpark. If you book through an agent you do pay the extra for the carpark but it is still pretty cheap overall. So, obviously, the decor is a bit tired and dated, but if you were brought up in the 80s, it's a nice opportunity to reminisce! If you expect 5 star luxury and service you may be a little disappointed, but if you want a cheap place to stay, with good heating, comfortable beds and very quiet nights - this place fits the bill.

Great location, walking distance to the city center. The hotel is old and charming, but could use some renovating to modernise the rooms.

While the room was spacious and cozy, the beds were a little soft, and the lack of ventilation made it not so pleasant to sleep there.

Breakfast was a disappointment, this was more like a quick coffee and croissant at most.

Location is great but room was unhygienic with moldy smells. I had to keep windows open throughout night although it was snowing outside due to smell. Although price was reasonable I would rather spend 10-20 pounds more to have much better room as we had lovely room in Novotel with just 15 pounds higher price for the night before and we moved there for our last day as we wanted to be close to city centre. Staffs were helpful though and breakfast was nice.

I recently stayed at this hotel and found it to be decent value for money. However, there were a few issues that detracted from the experience.

The room itself could have been cleaner—there were noticeable hairs from previous guests on the floor, which gave a poor first impression.

The continental breakfast was also underwhelming. The selection was quite limited: plain toast bread, only sweet fruit yoghurts or 0%-fat options, and no vegetables at all (although some fresh fruits, which was nice).

Overall, it’s not a bad place to stay if you’re on a budget, but there’s room for improvement.
