The good:||This isn’t the first time I’ve reviewed the hotel. The hotel is extremely well located, and does provide a comfortable nights sleep before an early flight. ||The hotel is without doubt the best offering at Newcastle airport. ||The Columbus Bar was warm and cosy at Christmas, and the hotel was so well heated on a chilly December day. ||Staff were extremely pleasant, particularly those on Reception, offering a chat and a nice welcome. ||The bad:||As mentioned before, the hotel is extremely dated. Whilst some rooms may have been refurbished, not enough have been. Rooms aren’t as clean as they could be, and corridors can be strewn with dirty trays and empty glasses. ||There aren’t many plugs near to beds to charge your devices, and some don’t function. ||The aircon/ heating system constantly rumbles at night, despite being switched off, and this can happen on all floors which can disturb sleep. ||Food and drink are very highly priced (over £7 per pint), and some of the lager was flat and underwhelming. Food can be a little hit and miss when served in the bar, but this time it was good, albeit hugely expensive.

I received a warm welcome. My room was spacious and comfortable, and room service was great - and that is just as it always is. Even my son got a warm cookie, and he'd only been dropping me off at the hotel. That was a lovely gesture. |A stay here before my flight always gets my holiday off to a good start.|My hilton Honours membership enabled me to get this stay at a great price too.|The Double Tree is well located, so it is just a stroll across to the airport

Lovely place to stay if you have an early flight or have flown in late.
Quiet - I didn't hear planes coming and going. Room was very comfortable and clean.
Staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient.
And both breakfast and dinner were delicious.
Will be staying again.

Another great stay, the hotel is so convenient for the terminal. We found the room to be quiet, spacious with a comfy bed, and it had a powerful shower. ||The room is starting to look a little tired and is definitely ready for an update. It was also a little dark and could do with an improvement in lighting as currently the light is a little yellow and dim.||That being said, we would definitely stay again.

Lovely styled hotel , very conveniently located opposite airport . Large bedroom with comfortable beds clean and tidy. App little tricky to check in on. Breakfast was great. Helpful friendly staff, gave advice on takeaway options which we definitely needed as we arrived very late. Definitely recommend.

Stayed here regularly before flights over the past few years atleast 8 times id guess. ||Another great stay. Check in quick and simple, free water in the room by virtue of my honors status. Did have an issue with the heating not working in room and room was freezing but tim at reception sorted quickly and got us another room close by. Well handled. Could probably put in some power outlets within 2 square miles of the bed but a minor inconvenience

We recently stayed at the Doubletree in Newcastle and I can highly recommend this place it’s spotless comfortable the staff are so helpful and friendly. We had a meal in the restaurant which was absolutely delicious. Shepards pie and pasta. The restaurants so cosy and the staff are amazing. Compliments to the chef👍🏾keep up the good work 😘

Lovely stay the night before a early morning flight! Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Definitely recommend for those who want a good night sleep before flying.
