This hotel is lovely. The room was clean and well supplied with tea/hot chocolate and some delicious biscuits. The room was a little warm and opening the window for more comfortable sleeping wasnโ€™t an option for me as I had a room located next to the main road which was noisy. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Would stay here again.

Great old hotel loved it . Clean tidy staff were friendly and helpful . Good value for money . Like all hotels there is good and bad itโ€™s the sign of the times and up keep is very expensive that being said I really thought it was great . The only thing I could say was a fault was they didnโ€™t have a basic menu / simple menu but good for them for trying to keep it more traditional . I would recommend and definitely stay again when Iโ€™m here .

We got married here 9 years ago yesterday the place is lovely and very friendly, staff work extremely hard and professional. Every few years we go back at Xmas was there last night. Same high standards, clean. Close walk into town. Breakfast was plenty and great ingredients. Can not find a fault

We met with family for a birthday. Food and service in the restaurant was very good. Buffet breakfast had a good selection, but no black pudding! During the night (3.30 am) the fire alarm went off. A technical fault apparently but sleep was disturbed!

Quiet hotel, quite dated and resonably priced when paying for the early saver or deals they do, wouldn't say it was a 4 star hotel, attention to detail is not there. Staff are friendly and the environment is relaxed. We had breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea which were all underwhelming. The bread for the sandwiches was stale on the outside, although not expected to be made at the time, it isn't expected to be stale to touch either. Good selection of food options to be had and very reasonably priced courses. Small details like the toilet paper being basically transparent is important, and the female hygiene bins used during the stay had to be opened by hand, rather than the sensor working to keep it non touch. Parking is limited on an evening but better during the day. The room was OK, really hot although radiators not on, bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, dated, wear and tear, bottle water would be a suggestion as kettle is provided but no water. Alright as a night stop over, but wouldn't say more then that

Me and my husband have just returned home after an overnight stay here.I booked it for a surprise for my husband birthday.
From the moment I contacted the hotel to arrange it to the day we checked out everything was perfect.
Fantastic customer service ,from the reception staff (sorry I didn't get your names) we were greeted with big smiles
When we checked in we got upgraded to room 21 ,a lovely room with a four poster bed which was sooooo comfortable. I asked for a bottle of fizz to be put in the room on arrival for my husbands birthday which the staff did ,they also wrote Happy Birthday on the mirror which was a nice touch .
The hotel was very clean and staff very friendly and made our stay special.
Breakfast was lovely .
We then had a spa day and treatments .
Can't wait to return thank you again .

Booked for a week during my studies at Teesside University in Darlington. The hotel more than meet expectations, very friendly and helpful staff, room was comfortable, clean and well maintained, the food is amazing at the restaurant, lots of options to very in a week time with acceptable prices. In sum, will definitely come back, recommend it 100%.

Pleasant stay at a historic building.|Room was clean, if a little bland with a view of the road and car park.|(Parking is free which is great).|Staff friendly.|Good location, 5/10 min walk into town.|Breakfast was ok - self service. Tasty enough but not an expansive range on offer.|Took advantage of the free pass to visit Bannatyne gym/spa - a short drive away. They have a pool, sauna, steam, jacuzzi and provide towels. A nice additional benefit.
