The hotel is very close to the Cambridge train station, so it is very convenient for travellers arriving late at night. Compared with its neighbouring hotels, it could have had clearer hotel front, as I missed it in the dark. My single room in the attic was very small, considering the rate, but was fortunately a clean, decently decorated en-suite one. Central heating and double glazing were sufficient to make it cozy throughout my stay. The bathroom was really tiny, but again very clean. The electric shower was powerful, but the small gap between its front and back shells made me concerned of electric shock. Room service was good - bed was made every day, and the room tidied up with tea bags, coffees and toiletries replenished. You have to book in advance for the free continental breakfast at half hours the next morning. The breakfast was simple but good enough. The staff member I met was friendly and helpful.

To be fair this was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Sure, don't expect a smiling receptionist to welcome you and sure, don't expect anyone to offer to carry your bags. It comes down to a room that you hope is functional. Was here for work for two nights. Had a twin room at the top of the building. For one person it was okay - would not have wanted two people. The bed was comfortable, kettle, WiFi, shower, TV and lights all worked. Clean room and well made up after night one. Although some of the doors in the building could be muffled to dampen the sound had two nights of good sleeping. The bathroom tiny, but for one person over two nights you can cope. Most difficult thing is to stand to use the loo as the sloping ceiling is very low in that part of the bathroom. Wouldn't choose Fenners for a family holiday, but for a functional short stay it could serve the purpose. |

I booked this hotel with the understanding that it would be a 2-star - I was not expecting much, just a clean place to sleep for a single night. ||||This is exactly what the hotel turned out be to. Everything was clean, the bed was comfy, and the check-in / out process was painless. The hotel is basic, but this is made clear on all booking websites, so if you were expecting more than what is advertised, that's on you.||||Great place for a 1-2 night stay, probably not any longer than that.

Besides: - the very welcoming/friendly staff, - the regular breakfast which was small (in choice and amount) but taken care off (warm breakfast you have to pay extra) and - the bed which felt great and soft, we have no good remarks. Shower was a horror (too low for my normal height and hot/cold constantly). Even though we had a hardfloor room, we had problems with our allergies in the morning => should be cleaned better.

Stayed here just for one night.. Glad it wasn't for any more nights! Was given room one ground floor next to the main door.very noisy with doors banging. People passing and cars.||Windows frosted so no view. Bathroom very small no where to hang towels or washbag. Very sparce room just a bed and TV no wardrobe. tea coffee kettle yes.. Room very tired. Shower not hot. ||Room was not very clean with dust and marks down a wall where I guess people spill coffee or tea bags before hitting a bin. ||yes bed was comfortable. No breakfast. Very budget. Won't be staying again.

The hotel is clean enough albeit very old and slightly in disrepair.

The room was clean, sheets were okay, and it had what you would expect from this sort of establishment (towels, kettle, etc.)

There is no formal reception and no parking.

No bike area either (we cycled) but the staff were helpful and found another room to keep them in.

If I'd have to, I'd stay again, as nothing was really that bad, but wouldn't recommend if you have other options.

Good location by the station. Friendly staff. No breakfast. Room was quite small, not very clean (dusty floor and hairy shower) and in need of some maintenance. I was woken a lot by slamming doors and squeaky floorboards, the room is not soundproof. The bed was very comfy. Cheap hotel, you get what you pay for.

We never leave negative reviews and always try to see the positive and take reviews we read with a pinch of salt as some people do love to complain but this hotel was seriously awful. More like a bed sit/hostel… We had 3 rooms booked. One (room 19) looked nothing like the photos, smelt like hospitals and was more like a hostel room with a tiny bathroom and a toilet anyone over 10 stone wouldn’t fit on, the second room (room 12) smelt like damp and cigarettes, my coat still stinks now, the shower we had no hot water and very minimal pressure for the stay and they photos were definitely taken a long time ago as it looked really nice in the photos but not so nice in person, and the single compact room (15) we liked to call the hobbit room. It was sooo small. An adult man couldn’t pee standing up as the ceiling was too low, you could barely move in the room as there was no space and you hit your head everywhere you went. Overall disappointed with the stay and we would not come back! Only good ish thing was the beds weren’t terribly uncomfortable and it was close to the station.. but we did seriously consider changing hotels after the first night
