Nice rooms, next to the pub. Clean and comfortable. Even though it is on the main road it still is very quiet at night. Staff is friendly and the food is very nice, dinner. English breakfast is good, continental a bit simple, with just a croissant and some slices toast and coffee. Will be staying here again when in the neighbourhood.

Great central location. Near to station and bus stops. Not too far to walk into town. Not far away from botanical gardens. Plenty of parking should you wish stay over night. Friendly staff, reasonably priced meals, beer not too bad. Fairly modern decor, TV and game machine. Plenty of dining places. Nothing outstanding just a good average pub

I was on my way from Cambridge Rail station to the nearby Travelodge (Cambridge Central) when I passed this pub on the corner. I decided to check their food offering as I was planning on eating out later.
When I returned it was busy but with plenty free tables. It has a lively atmosphere. Although adjacent to student halls of residence, the punters were a wide mix of ages and locals/visitors.
It's not modern or hi-tech (I mean that as a compliment!) and felt welcoming & comfortable.
I enjoyed my visits and would definitely recommend this pub.
Good wholesome grub and they don't skimp the helpings!

The biggest issue was that the mattress had totally collapsed. When we sat or lay on it there was no support so we in effect ended up lying on the divan base. We brought this to the guy on receptions attention shortly after arrival and was told that nothing could be done because they were fully booked. We then asked if there was a mattress topper which he found and helped us fit but this did not make up for the collapsed mattress.||Other issues:||1) When shown to our room the window was wide open and room cold. We were left to close the window and then had to work out how to get the heater working.||2) We could not change channels with TV remote - selecting a number for a channel didn’t work. Using the channel “up/down” button changed the volume!||In the end we used the buttons on the side of the TV.||3) One towel had large bleach marks which just doesn’t look nice.||The failed mattress combined with what I assume was the noise from a boiler turning on/off throughout the night lead to an uncomfortable and restless nights sleep.||We did Email the Earl of Derby with the information in this review but have had no reply.

The price of beer changes often. I have been charged 3 different prices for the same beer there. Not sure how is this possible. I paid over £7 for Staropramen while Carlsberg cost around £4. Today Staropramen was less than £6. Have paid £6.50 before. Feels like a rip off, won't be back anytime soon

Convenient location for Cambridge station,20 min walk in to central Cambridge.
Rooms were simple but clean. Bar staff were super friendly and there were some tables outside to catch some evening sun for a drink
Travelled with bikes and were able to bring them in to a room which is always a plus.

It’s not the ritz, but it isn’t trying to be. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower worked fine ( even though it could have done with the lime scale being attended to). The staff were universally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pretty good. Light sleepers might have been disturbed bu some noise overspill from the pub, later n Saturday night….. but I cant say it bothered me.overall all the 5 of us who stayed were very happy.

Horrible. The rooms are so hot and dated, it is impossibleto sleep, even with the not hot weather outside. The host for breakfast was so rude and not helpful at all. Breakfast( salmon on toast) was disgusting. Please, don't waste your money!
