The room was lovely however didn't realise it was a cozy double ( small) when we booked, could have done with a small table for the coffee/tea facilities as were stored in bedside cabinet which was very annoying and inconvenient space wise . The tea caddy was full of crumbs and saucer was dirty so didn't want to use the cups incase were also not cleaned properly. The bathroom was great , bed comfy. Very warm room . Breakfast was included in price which was good value however being if being picky i didn't believe the beans were heinz as stated in menu nor the sausages being local pork and leak ( just tasted standard) no black pudding as hadn't been delivered so something to replace that would have been nice. Overall staff very friendly, the pub was extremely expensive!!! Would stay again in bigger room. Has potential to be a great choice for weddings etc lots of space outside and function room. Classy furnishings. Pleasant hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights, nice hotel, staff and the service they provide cannot be faulted, well done guys, breakfast is very good.
Unfortunately the room we stayed in (Room 103) had a very small shower, if you're over 6 foot tall and a little wider than normal this is not the room for you, even my partner struggled, but to be fair we were offered an alternative room, due to our stay time we declined. All in all a great stay and a great part of the country.

PERFECT RETREAT ❤️

From our first encounter with the ladies at the hotel Reception, Rachael, Karen and Margaret it was obvious that this place is special. My wife and I can honestly say that it's the Staff and People working here that are far above 5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

Ryan, with his professional manner and enthusiasm is a gentleman. Mandy and Tigan in the restaurant with smiles that would light up Antarctica in winter 🌞 pure angels. These are just a few of the special stars that make up the essence of this hotel. And apologies if we left anybody out.

Having been blessed to travel and work as a diplomat most of my life, my wife and I can honestly say that this is in our top 10 locations in the world!

BRAVO and gratitude to all who made our stay and celebration of our very special wedding anniversary so memorable.

We will forever hold the Sixty-One Durham Hotel, in our hearts and memories.

Stayed two nights, double room with breakfast, we ate dinner second night. We knew there was no lift but only 2 floors so not many stairs to climb.
We loved everything about the staff they were very attentive and friendly.
The lounge is a cosy place for a pre dinner drink or after dinner drink. Breakfast was a huge choice and full English well cooked.
Ryan the resturant manager was very friendly and attentive.

We stayed there for only one night, travelling back home. We loved the place: The building has lots of character, the food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and quiet. Durham can easily be reached by P&R. Prices are very fair, you get good value for your money.

We came for a family party this weekend and had a lovely day. The room and food were great, and we could sit on the terrace in the sun which made for a wonderful afternoon with family. We will definitely be back to try the restaurant out

Came here for afternoon tea not a very good choice on sandwiches, the decor was a lot nicer when it was the hallgarth Manor hotel, it very noisy so we couldn't hear people the staff could have been more welcoming
