Visited for new yrs day meal after the place being recommended by friends we were staying with to see in new yr. we had booked well in advance. ||Upon arriving we were left standing whilst at least 5 members of staff(all who looked pretty angry) walked past us. Eventually a man behind the bar acknowledged and took our booking details (guy with long hair who was nice). He then informed us that our table wasn't yet ready; even though we were a couple of mins late. We had to then wait for the table; with our 4yr old. Whilst waiting we overheard the barman say there was a 45min wait for food! ||When seated the waitress confirmed the wait for food, but then did all that she could to ensure that our son ate quickly and separately to us. We were very grateful for this and it meant that we could relax and enjoy the time together despite the very long wait for food! I didn't get her name but she was a younger girl with long blonde hair. ||The food itself was fine; nothing massively exciting tbh and not really worth a 30min wait; we only had a main meal. ||Overall our waiting staff were nice but it wasn't really worth a £70 bill and being there for over 2hrs just to eat one course. Disappointing really.

The room and bathroom was very clean, cosy and Nice. The mattress was a little hard for my husband but I had a good nights sleep. My daughter said the sofa bed was very comfortable. There was enough room for me, my husband and 14 year old daughter. There was tea, coffee making facilities and a hairdryer. We had a lovely stay and would definitely return and recommend to others.
The meals were lovely. The staff were all very friendly, kind, caring, polite and very friendly. We will definitely return and recommend to others.

We really like the relaxed feel of this country pub, however lately we have noticed the quality of the food has not been good. Fish was ok with crispy batter. The chips and mushy peas were dried out and tasteless. How long had they been standing ?
Love the pub but must try harder with the food quality.

A very comfortable overnight stopover in a rural setting off the A1 north of Newcastle. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel, which also serves as the breakfast room. Our breakfasts were cooked to order, no luke warm eggs here getting colder by the minute under heat lamps. The breakfast staff were very jovial.||||Our room and bathroom was comfortable, tidy and clean. One minor niggle was a small amount of mould around the window frames. Perhaps housekeeping could pay greater attention to this detail.||||We will certainly consider this hotel for future overnight stops

Staff were amazing, breakfast that was included in price was gorgeous. Only downfall was how hard the mattress was- made for an uncomfortable night for me personally. Others may like the firmness. Wouldn’t stop me staying again if I was attending a wedding close by again as the location was perfect and everything else spot on.

We loved the restaurant and pub side of the Snowy Owl would give that 5 stars), and the hotel is nice but not room 13 of the hotel. It smelt awful, stomach turning awful, the stench was coming from the bathroom sink. The shower leaked through the glass panel and through the entry way into the shower due to the shower head not being straight, it has obviously been like this for a while as there is water damage on the outside. The room being so dark would have benefitted from a bulb in the lamp provided. And the bed wasn't comfortable at all.

Service and ambience is good. Food was overpriced for the quality. If you're having breakfast go early. We had ours at 9 and the bacon was like cardboard, the sausage was way overcooked and everyone's eggs were solid.

The restaurant was lovely we couldn't fault it, the room was comfortable but the TV barely worked, the lights took a while to navigate and outside the bathroom the carpet was wet, I believe there is damp in the carpet. But bed was comfy. Enjoyed my sleep.
