Great hosts, lovely location, close to plenty of walks, and the lodge has everything you need for a few days away. |Carole was really good at making sure our stay was as pleasant as possible and really good at responding to messages is we needed anything - our dog went missing for a night, and Carole and her family were really good with helping us try and find him (he showed up the following morning) |Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

Had weekend in lodge, everything was perfect, ideal for a peaceful, quiet and relaxing time, the warm and cosy cabin was perfect, would definitely recommend it ☺️

I'm not surprised people keep coming back here. It's divine! Carole is an incredible and welcoming host. This was one of the best places we've ever stayed at. ||||The cabin is very cosy, clean and has absolutely everything you could require. The views of the valley are lovely. We used to love to sit outside on the porch of an evening and watch the horses canter around, whilst we enjoyed ourselves with a bottle or two.||||The location was perfect. You could be at the beach in under an hour or Beamish, Durham or the amazing Kynren in under 30 minutes. We stocked up on supplies at a nearby Lidl, which was a 15 minute drive from the lodges.||||Hamsterley Forest itself is gorgeous and you get your own private entrance track from the lodge. It's well worth a visit even if it is on your doorstep.||||There was no Wi-Fi, but a 4G signal was just about available which was sufficient for the internet. There is a good Freeview HD flat screen for evening entertainment if horse watching doesn't satisfy. There is a washing machine next to the property, but we didn't need it.||||We will definitely return!

Such a lovely place to stay. Cabin is always spotless, cosy and welcoming. Set in fabulous countryside with so much to do in the forest and local towns nearby for the shopping. It's a perfect place to get away from the world and enjoy the peace and quiet. Carole and her family are so welcoming and that makes returning each year feel like coming home. I would highly recommend and am looking forward to being back there this year.

Such a great time had by all. Lodges were clean and the views amazing!! So nice to see the horses grazing nearby too. The forest was in walking distance.. hosts were very friendly. Thank you for a lovely stay! Ps we ate at the Cross Keys pub and would recommend 🙂

Just returned from west hoppyland this weekend, was a lovely get away! Carole is very welcoming and makes you feel at home from first arriving. Lodges were very clean and spacious also had everything you need in it (crockery, cutlery ect..). Great location also just a short drive from local villages and pubs. Will definitely be returning soon

Lovely basic chalet with everything you need for self catering set in idyllic countryside just a 5 minute walk from hamstley forest and all its attractions. Carol the host was very welcoming and helpful even bringing a Shetland pony to our chalet for my two children to groom even taking them through the stages of grooming. Would recommend a stay to anyone who is wanting a nice quite break or a fun packed countryside activity weekend

West Hoppyland Lodges - an excellent place to stay, friendly and helpful owners. Lots of places to visit in the area - well located for country walks and adventures in the forest, and there are interesting places to visit within a short drive and some lovely market towns. The location is perfect for enjoying beautiful views over the countryside. There are also good eating places around the area. This is definitely a place I would be happy to go back to, and have recommended/sent people to stay here too, an ideal location for outdoor pursuits especially with the forest being literally on the doorstep.
