Me and my boyfriend stayed for 1 night and only wished we had booked longer to stay! We stayed in the Black Thorn lodge which was absolutely unreal both in and outdoor. On arrival we met a Katie who showed us around. Majorly impressed with everything and can’t wait for our next visit.

I had the most amazing stay! The lodge was immaculate and absolutely beautiful, and the service was outstanding. My only minor issue was that the bed wasn't the most comfortable for me, but I understand this is a matter of personal preference. We both wished we could have stayed another day, and we’re already looking forward to returning!

Had a Monday to Friday stay here.. Lodge was spotless very modern and ideal for the the specified two people that it's made for. I echo the comments of a previous reviewer in that the sofa ain't the best. Bearing in mind that this is in winter and at night you spending time in front of the telly then it could be more comfortable.||Other advice I'd offer the owners is perhaps keep the cushions for the our door furniture perhaps in a keter box for guests to use as and when as you can see from my pictures the weather has won the battle.||Would I go back yes! Super quiet and private and only a short drive into Consett

We had a family weekend at Newland Lodges in November. Had two dogs with 8 adults/teens. Maple Lodge was large, clean and well appointed. We used the hot tub and took the dogs for walks in the forest. Spent the days walking locally at Derwent Reservoir and one evening at The Feathers at Hedley On The Hill. Would recommend for a base for a family get away and would return there if back in the area. ||Pros|Clean, modern areas|Spacious bedrooms and communal area |Comfy beds |Lovely and warm, both the lodge and the welcome from the team! ||Gripes|It’s in a forest - there will be flies. Not too much bother for us in November but still noticeable. |Would have liked the option to have rooms set up as twins not just superking.

Second visit at Newland lodges with friends for a 40th Birthday and loved it again|Attention to detail is great, clean, spacious with amazing views. |We were met when we arrived and everything explained on use of all appliances|Hot tub was clean and ready for use when we arrived|We all had the best time and we will be back again|Well done

A stay at one of these lodges really is a comfortable 5 star experience. We stayed in Willow and were not disappointed. The location and facilities were perfect for our weekend away. It was so private and peaceful- and the hot tub and sauna perfect to come back to after long days out walking. |If I had to suggest any improvement at all is would be providing extra towels for use outside for the tub and sauna would have been useful and the towels and dressing gowns provided could have been a little more luxurious in keeping with the standard of the accommodation.

Lovely spot. Great lodges in beautiful woods. Very nicely furnished. But a bit of style over practicality. Could do with more plug sockets, with a sideboard or such like in the bedroom.... And bring a kitchen sponge and kitchen cloth, because they only supply budget jcloths. And the cutlery drawer is hidden within the crockery drawer. We stayed in the olive lodge.

We stayed in olive lodge in early October and on arrival it looked amazing but the directions to the lodge were diabolical and thank god we finally found it before dark !!
Once inside we could not find cutlery draw as was hidden in a cupboard ! We only had one small bath towel for the whole 3 nights for use in shower bath hot tub and sauna, the robes were for size 12 and below and were not fit for purpose, only two tiny milks, we were over run with flies and no fly spray on a bat that needed charging but no charger, so for £900 I did actually expect a little more !!!!!
