Stayed for one night in the Garden Room. I don't normally like B&B-type accomodation, but I felt really comfortable in the room (it's more of a mini-apartment with a lounge, bedroom, bathroom etc). It was incredibly clean, nicely decorated, and filled with anything I might need, such as milk, biscuits, shampoo. Margaret was really friendly, helpful with advice on where to eat in the (lovely) village that is a minute's walk away, and cooked me a great breakfast the next day. I'm hoping to stay again soon.

This is a truly excellent guest house. It is well located for the town and its amenities, there is free parking in the road outside and restaurants close at hand. Margaret had supplied everything possible in the room to make our stay comfortable including towelling robes, cotton wool, cotton buds, tissues, tea and biscuits, bottles of water etc. the room was well insulated from the passing traffic noise but a little cramped with all the old fashioned furniture. The bed was large as it was two singles pushed together and covered in a lovely quilted throw. Margaret was very concerned to cook breakfast to everyone's dietary requirements and the breakfast was outstanding, with homemade preserves and well made porridge and a massive full English with 2 eggs and everything imaginable.

We spent 3 nights at this lovely B&B in the self contained flat at the bottom of the garden. It was clean and very comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. Margaret truly deserves her breakfast award, the best bacon I have ever eaten in a B&B or a hotel.

My second visit was in May 2017. No wonder I returned. The room was very comfortable, the front facing room was double glazed so no noise from traffic, but in the evening and night time there is so little traffic, it is peacefully quiet. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the breakfast buffet table included home made jams, etc.||When you book in, check the various special offers for restaurants etc which can be found in the bedrooms.||There is easy free parking outside the front door. It is about a 200 yard walk to the town centre with a very good selection of shops,etc.||Margaret Lodge has lived in Barney all her life, has an encyclopedic knowledge of the town and its surroundings and is only to pleased to share her knowledge with you.

This was a late booking but one we were delighted to have secured. The B & B was very clean, the bed was large and extremely comfortable and as the title states, the breakfast was excellent. The hostess gave us a warm welcome and parking outside the property is not a problem and it is free.

Stayed here for a night whilst transiting through the area having booked the accommodation via an on-line site. The owner was a delightful lady who was extremely helpful yet not "in your face". Very well prepared and clean room with an extremely large and comfortable bed. Breakfast was outstanding and served to order. Parking outside on the road was easy (and free). Easy walking distance to the town centre and all of its various shops, cafes, pubs etc.

Stayed here for a weekend. We were welcomed by friendly people, shown to our room and told to 'Just make yourselves at home'. Then asked at what time we would like breakfast.||The room was at the front of the house, well furnished with ensuite shower, washbasin and toilet.||Breakfast was excellent - only needed a drink and a snack at lunchtime.||There are plenty of eateries nearby in this delightful little town.||Onstreet parking.||A delightful area with much to see. The Bowes Museum is a real MUST.

The best B&B you will ever stay in. Rooms are spotless, tea coffee and even ground coffee with a cafetier. The landlady even closed the curtains for us while we were out. The breakfast was to die for with refills of tea and coffee as much as you could drink. If you're staying in Barnard Castle then stay here.
