We had a lovely couple of days at the Painswick Hotel.
Painswick itself is really lovely (be aware of steep and winding streets!), and we had a great view from our room at the top.
The staff were all lovely - very welcoming and helpful, and service was always good. Our room was roomy, light, very comfortable, and there are plenty of spaces in the lounges to sit and relax as well.
Breakfast was very good (especially the home made sourdough crumpets which are amazing), and our dinner was exceptionally good - really thoughtfully planned and prepared food, and every dish excellent.
We also really appreciated the extra thoughtful touches - the personalised welcome note, the complimentary entry to Painswick Rococo Gardens (well worth a visit), and the complimentary protein bars for the journey - such a nice touch.

A lovely hotel with very nice food. The dishes we had were extremely tasty, however we didn’t think the portion sizes were very big and enough for two given they are all based on sharing. The dishes we had were more for one person. So although delicious, we thought it expensive given the portions were too small for sharing.
The seating areas were very cosy and beautiful decor throughout.

We had an exquisite dinner at the hotel. I have been to all fine dining places in the Cotswolds and this is my latest hidden gem that I discovered. All dishes very delicious and the Polish gentleman who was the sommelier as well as restaurant manager gave us wonderful advice on the wine, which was one of the best I had. Took a photo of the label, so I know for the future. I cannot wait to come more often, especially in the summer to enjoy the views over lunch.

Consistently excellent. Another wonderful Christmas break. Delicious menu for all days , staff are excellent. Very welcoming and relaxing. This lovely hotel is located in a pretty, traditional Cotswold town in Gloucestershire. There are short and long walks and plenty of other Cotswold towns within reasonable driving distance. Highly recommended.

This is a lovely hotel in the Cotswolds. Nice décor with roaring fires and a nice bar area. The restaurant is very good, if a tad expensive, but it is the Cotswolds so what do you expect. Our room was nice but was very noisy. Overall we can not knock the place and would recommend you stay just pray you don't have noisy neighbours who leave early.

We checked into the painswick for 1 night, and the 2nd night at the sister hotel, the calcot.|First impressions were good, and when we were upgraded to a nicer room with fantastic views and a great bathroom we were even more pleased. |Service was casual but attentive ( in a good way). The hotel had bags of character and Cotswold charm....beautifully furnished and very atmospheric and cosy. Lovely toiletries as well.|Food at dinner was excellent, as was breakfast. |Not a great deal to do in this tiny village, but if you want a quiet country night away you could do worse than stay here.

Our very first impression of the Painswick hotel, was one of total relief at having safely negotiated the Costwolds steep, narrow streets and then of pleasure at seeing a car park spot reserved just for us – a real ‘welcome’ feel – thank you.|Thereafter, everything seemed a total contradiction. We had George’s suite – 2 rooms with the most amazing balcony – the views were idyllic – but then the TVs (2) didn’t work as they should. Fabulous choice of channels – but we were told to open the door of what looked like the bottom half of a garden shed of which the only way to open it was by breaking finger nails and aim the remote at the sky box – which was impossible anyway from the bedroom – and hope you could find something. The system really does need fixing.|The tasting menu aimed at fine dining and was again ‘mixed’. In our experience, charcuterie with thick sour dough bread slices are not ‘taster menu’ snacks. But, then the salmon sashimi, monkfish and venison were really very good. The wines were also very reasonably priced. Breakfast was very hit and miss regarding the cooking. The small garden is beautifully terraced, well tended and must be fabulous in the summer. If you go to the nearby Rococo gardens, which you should do – fascinating – do drive or walk there as the 4 minute taxi was £18 each way! |Overall, the staff were lovely, friendly and attentive, with George’s suite a must for the views. For these reasons alone the hotel is good value for money.

Afternoon to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food was divine!!! The afternoon tea was full of flavour, beautifully presented and delicious. The gluten & dairy free option was amazing. Truly cannot wait to return. Only slight niggle was the lack of comfy/cosy chairs.
