Westbourne House is a delightful place to stay by the water in West Cowes. The house is a lovely elegant Georgian property and is immaculate throughout with wonderful views over the water from the dining area and guest lounge. Kate is also really elegant and charming--cooking a delicious breakfast in the very smart kitchen. Husband Richard is a great conversationalist/character--and after 2 days here my wife and I felt like friends rather than paying guests. As mentioned by others a glass of wine is on offer with Kate and Richard(a large glass) which is such a nice idea-and surely not something which happens much anywhere else. The resident dogs Myrtle and Tansy are both really lovely , calm canines-just adding to the warm welcome we received from arrival to departure. West Cowes is a great place to stay-full of good shops and restaurants. We ate at Little Gloster and at Coast- both were excellent. The town is very easily reached in 25 minutes as a foot passenger on the Red Jet or go via East Cowes on the car ferry. In both cases Westbourne House can be reached in 5 minutes. Coral and I would certainly return

I agree with all of the other reviews as I have NEVER been met with the welcoming offer of "join us for glass of wine?" at any B&B or hotel (INC. 5 Star venues) before! Kate and Richard are fantastic hosts and make you feel like part of the family! I arrived on a cold, wet evening and after I had been shown my room I joined them for a glass of wine with there other guest. I was on the IOW for work and I immediately felt welcome and more like a returning friend than a B&B guests. Their house is beautiful, and well located. The room was very comfortable . Kate produced a delicious breakfast which was enjoyed in their lovely kitchen with stunning Solent views. I will definitely be returning as a regular guest when I visit the Island for work again.

Kate and Richard are wonderful and interesting hosts, not only is their B&B property older than Osbourne House, it is as warm and welcoming as they are. If you have a sailing background, then you will enjoy their memorabilia and stories. Kate is ever helpful with information pre our visit as well as when we arrived. Richard is super charming. We loved it and would definitely go back for longer. Good luck to both of you!

We had a wonderful stay at Westbourne House during Cowes week. The most perfect 10 night stay. We were looked after impeccably. We were welcomed with drinks, most comfortable bed, flowing hot water, absolutely delicious breakfast was all the trimmings, home made cookies and room serviced every day - fresh towels and sheets when required. - I was able to also sit outside at breakfast and watch the boats floating in and out and the birds busy with their morning song. We love the dogs and were made to feel part of the family and could come and go with ease. Thank you so much and we look forward to returning again! - Juliet & Murray.

Absolutely gorgeous house right on the sea front and the most scrummy breakfasts. Kate and Richard are such lovely hosts and so nice to have their dogs running around the kitchen, felt so at home! Topped off by Kate's delicious homemade biscuits to tuck into in the rooms!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Kate and Richard couldn't have made us more welcome and were lovly with mum.. Gorgeous property, great location, well appointed rooms and use of sitting room on first floor to relax and enjoy stunning views. Breakfast was second to none and set us up for the day. Thank you Kate and Richard - we will recommend to any of our friends coming over!

Thank you TripAdvisor, and all the folk who write reviews, for helping us find such a gem of a place. Most of all, thank you, Kate and Richard, for sharing your wonderful home and looking after us so wonderfully. We had planned to sail over from Chichester Harbour and moor for the night at a local marina and stay at Westbourne House, as close to walk to Shepards Wharf, Cowes Harbour Services, who were also very helpful in replying to our request for a night’s mooring (5* to them too as the other marina never got back to us). Sadly, the weather changed very close to the weekend when we had already booked, to very bad and so we decided not to sail, but to take the ferry over with our car and stay on the Isle of Wight anyway, as friends told us that there is a lot to see – how right they are!||Before the stay, all my queries were answered very quickly by Kate. I am very noise sensitive, so I asked to have a quiet room. Kate explained about the rooms and in fact- despite her concerns about noisy people leaving pubs late at night, it was incredibly quiet – and I am fussy about noise.|| I can only repeat what the other reviewers have said about how VERY wonderful your hosts would be, if you are lucky enough to stay here. Kate and Richard heard of our change of plan and that we would now have a car rather than walking from Shepards Wharf - all the communication was rapid and clear and excellent. They managed to get us a free car park space right opposite the house- free as we arrived at 5.30pm and you get half an hour free and then after 6 pm on Saturday, it is continually free for the weekend.||When we walked in, we were made to feel so very welcome. I have read what other reviewers say about the dogs. As both my husband and I are doctors, and I am a bit OCD about hygiene and I am also allergic to dog hair, I was initially a bit concerned. No need to be. It is immaculate, almost surgically clean (husband is a surgeon) and the dogs are well behaved and no sign of anything doggy. It was a great relief and would certainly not stop me returning (as we can’t wait to do), nor should the presence of dogs stop anyone from staying here.||The views are outstanding onto the Solent and the drawing room for visitors is a wonderful place to enjoy the views from. Kate’s artwork is fantastic and adorns their lovely home. I really want to take my husband to one of her exhibitions to buy a piece, once he has retired.||I sleep poorly unless it is quiet and I have a comfortable mattress, as I have arthritis in my shoulders that are easily dislocated. The mattress was so good that I slept really well.||Kate recommended Mojac’s (see review) which was an excellent place to eat and easy walking distance.||The homemade biscuits in the room were a lovely touch. Sadly, only caffeinated tea and coffee sachets- and as doctors, we only have decaffeinated. The breakfast the next morning was so delicious. We met other guests at breakfast, who told us about their visit to the zoo- more of a conservation place than a zoo (see review)- so we changed our plans. Breakfast was so relaxing as well as scrummy – we were not rushed at all. It set us up for the day- we didn’t need to eat again until the evening, just before we got on the ferry in the late evening.||All I can say is that if you want a B&B on the Isle of Wight- this is the BEST!

A beautiful place to stay, a delicious breakfast. Great hospitality! You feel very welcome by Kate and Richard! |You can discover the island by bus. The west coast is beautiful. In Cowes West you find a lot of nice restaurants. The coast and the grill are one of them.
