Absolutely lovely place and nice food. My favourite beer. Gorgeous scenery and dog friendly. All customers you speak to are friendly. Shame the staff won’t smile and be polite. A particularly staff member of the bar called ash is very rude and as much use as a chocolate teapot. Apart from that, lovely place to come. Just Avoid staff

Gorgeous location with a fascinating history. Beautiful views of the river from our room. Spacious room and good bathroom. Very comfy bed but some quirky decor and lighting. Low ceilings in the top floor rooms, challenging for tall people. Delicious dinner and very good breakfast. Nice walk to Beaulieu. A lovely place to spend a few days.

We were lucky enough to stay in one of the river view rooms in the original building. The room was spacious and the bed was incredible. As you’d expect with an older building there were some idiosyncrasies that you might be fussed about if you can’t see past the historic charm- no plugs by the bed, a sensor light that had a mind of its own and the shower took a while to get going. But the hotel was peaceful and the views incredible. The breakfast was good, though if have liked toast as standard with the breakfast. The fish and chips in the pub was the best I’ve ever had. |One small disappointment was that on the coldest night in the Uk in 15 years they could not light any of the fires in the lounges citing the fact that there was no staff able to do this. |But overall this hotel is lovely and we would love to return. Thank you so much.

The hotel is set in a wonderful location which is full of naval history which is why we decided on this destination.|The rooms were lovely, amazing showers and a beautiful bar and lounge with roaring fires.|However I was extremely disappointed with the food that we ordered. We decided to eat in the bar area as it had a great atmosphere. I ordered scallops to start which were unfortunately overcooked as was my Henry burger extremely well cooked even burnt. My wife ordered the braised beef cheek which had very little meat and was very fatty.|Considering as a party of four we spent over £500 on a one night stay the food was very disappointing.

Another thoroughly enjoyable stay. Staff were friendly and polite and even sent me a birthday card as it was a special birthday. We had a lovely room with brillant riverside views which made our stay more enjoyable. Food in Henry's was delicious. We will be back.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at The Master Builders, celebrating our father’s 80th birthday. The service was excellent from the first phone call to make the reservation up until the time we left. We were really well taken care of by all the staff and we all had a genuinely superb and memorable time. The building and surrounding area is stunning too! Thank you!

Just returned back to North Norfolk after visiting Bucklers Hard, a 4.5hour drive, but worth every mile we traveled. We stayed at the Master Builders House and what an absolute gem of a place, the village and house just oozed character and charm, it was a like time had slowed down, allowing us to unwind and relax in the most beautiful setting. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and we will most certainly be back. If you like your history or just want to take some time out and breathe then Bucklers hard is an area to visit.

Lush hotel, great food, lovely staff. The whole stay made us feel like we stepped back in time. We stayed in a room with the view across river. We could spend hours just admiring the views. Bed was comfy, nice shower. Everything was great really.
