Saturday eve dinner with the family, over Christmas. Looks like an updated menu. The faggots were excellent and everyone else said their dinners were very good too. Friendly, efficient service. Well stocked bar. ||My only criticism is that it was way too cold. People were wearing scarves and coats. Heating was off and no roaring open fire. A big turn off for me I'm afraid ||Looking forward to a summer visit so I can enjoy the spectacular view, one of the best places to view a sunset on the IOW without being cold

Friendly and efficient welcome. Stayed for two nights over the weekend. The room was comfortable and absolutely spotless with lovely toiletries, bottled water, a tea tray including biscuits included. Breakfast had a wonderful choice and was delicious. We ate in the restaurant and the food was exceptional. I would recommend booking a table because it was understandably busy. Will definitely return and recommend.

I don't know whether this happens to other people but it happens to us a lot. Waiting staff forget to put some or all of our order through. And usually when it happens the staff then treat us as if it is our fault. Slamming plates down on the table when the food eventually arrives and generally ignoring us from then on.
This didn't happen here where my wife had her meal but I didn't. The waiter had the good grace to not charge for my meal when it arrived later in the evening. But we were never going to see the dessert menu.
I have to say the pub's location is exceptional but really the menu is disappointing. Having said that it was reasonable quality when it arrived.

We popped in for some food and drink whilst out and about in Cowes/Gurnard. Pub was busy but we got a table no problem. Didn’t have to wait too long for food. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Meals were a good size and the food was absolutely delicious. Really delicious! Would definitely recommend and hope to return. (And when the weather is nice there is lots of lovely outside space!)

Lovely atmosphere and a great location.... very popular with the locals by the look of it.
However, unfortunately, for me, my overwhelming memory will be being charged £25 for two large G&Ts
