Hidden gem!

Stayed the night for a wedding in February 2025 and honestly couldn't fault the place.

So much character and in an ideal location for a break away. Based in the countryside but close to the centre.

Food was incredible as was all of the service. You can tell it's a well loved place and everyone feels like family.

There is also locally produced (made on site!) chocolate which looks incredible. Unfortunately didn't get a chance to try but will definitely be going back for some!

Really good pub experience: good B&B in a comfortable, recently decorated bedroom with new ensuite, delicious breakfast and good dinner the night before. Nice bar full of locals as well as visitors and my husband pleased with the beers on tap. Food is “quality pub” in a nice diningroom; we were offered a “Festive” menu or a “normal” menu and were able to chop and change. Total bill very reasonable when you consider what was provided. Good provision for veggies, too. Reasonable wine list, well thought out.

Christmas Day luncheon. What an excellent day. The food was really amazing; so tasty and presented so well. For so many covers at the same time, the service was exemplary, like clockwork and everything was piping hot. The atmosphere was warm, Christmassy and friendly. Well done all the wonderful staff. Booked the suite for the night before my wedding. The bathroom looks lovely but the shower drain was full of hair so the shower kept overfilling. The water was not warm so I couldn’t use the bath. The room was also cold. The bar is right underneath this room so it is loud. For the money paid, I was so disappointed. I’ve tired to contact the hotel multiple times concerning my complaint but I’ve not had any response.

Stayed a night at short notice and had the accessible King room with wetroom, which was spacious and comfortable. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was delicious, and the service from the staff was above all perfect at all times... their friendliness and helpfulness is a real asset to the hotel. A great experience which I would repeat.

Very nice place, open fire, good beers, very pleasant staff. We only went for a quick drink (so can't comment on the rooms), but immediately booked to return for lunch.

Very comfortable room in a newly built extension to the hotel. Friendly staff, a nice bar, and an exception dinner, beautifully cooked and presented. So, breakfast was a disappointment. A buffet is always underwhelming but the cooked meal was poor & and huge contrast to dinner. Hard to explain or understand.

Had my wedding here. Staff were very nice and accommodating. Well organised and made the whole process streamlined and hassle free. Bridal suite was large and the bathroom was like an entire other room.

I would recommend this for anyone's wedding.
