Evatt & Bullock Co. at Dinham Weir House - Ludlow

While on holiday in Bishops Castle, Shropshire, we asked Evatt & Bullock to provide an in-house “fine dining experience” to celebrate a special event. We were a relatively small party of four friends and, in the planning beforehand, we did not know (a) whether we would be a party of sufficient size to be of interest; and (b) exactly what facilities would be available. Harry reassured us that all would be well and indeed it was, the venue turned out to be excellent. Harry and Jen arrived in good time, brought everything that was needed, mastered the kitchen and were ready to go at the appointed hour.
We had agreed a 5-course dinner with canapés beforehand, focussing for the most part on local produce and sufficient to satisfy the appetites of four hungry walkers, fresh off the Shropshire Hills. Harry had explained his recommendations and, with a couple of tweaks, we were happy to go with them. This was wise because they were excellent, including a fish starter, lamb main and chocolate dessert with artisan bread and butter and a selection of cheeses. Not a morsel was left and each successive course delighted the diners. The table decorations were also beautiful and appreciated.
We had sight of the kitchen while we were eating and it was noticeable how much attention to detail Harry put into his preparation; he did not stop working for a second and explained each dish to us with comments on their sources and ingredients. The food was presented exquisitely – and, in this case, substance was the equal of style. Jen was a delightful and attentive hostess and knew discreetly when to join in with our conversation and when to be in the background, which is a difficult art to master.
A special mention also for the condition in which Harry and Jen left the kitchen, it was cleaned immaculately and we had nothing to do apart from relax and enjoy ourselves.
I would thoroughly recommend Evatt & Bullock for an in-house fine dining experience that you will talk about for a long time. Thank you so much.

Wow - what an experience from start to finish. We arrived to a beautifully laid table, mellow music & staff serving out our drinks. Before being seated we had amazing canapé's which were truly delicious.
Our starter of Avocado filled with Morcambe Bay shrimps was a work of art - 11 identical unblemished ripe avocado cones - I’m sure the pictures do not do it justice but they we're simply delicious. Our main courses arrived next & again the presentation was Michelin star standard - either duck or sea bass was so tasty. We then had to find room for the cheese plate or crepe suzette!!
The Ewart & Bullock staff Jen & Tilly were delightful, as was Harry - they all added to make the experience unforgettable.
Would we do it again - in a heartbeat!!

We were staying at the Redford Farm Barns for the week and were so very lucky to be able to experience Chef Harry and his team. Harry, Ruby and Jen were absolutely brilliant and we had an utterly incredible, memorable and gastronomic evening in the Barn.

We had a buffet style meal that worked so well and enabled us to sample so many delicious dishes - my 15 year old son went up 6 times for more!! The guests were divided as to their favourite dish but all were rated really highly and we were lucky to be able to enjoy the left overs the next day.

The menu was designed by Harry and the whole process was so straight forward and easy. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole evening was just so perfect. Unfortunately we failed to take any pictures of the food - far too busy eating it (!!) but I can assure you that it was absolutely first class and some of the best that any of us have ever tasted.

Evatt & Bullock are highly highly recommended and we cannot wait to return to Shropshire!!

I feel so lucky to have had Harry and Ruby work with my partner to plan and deliver the perfect proposal.

In addition to creating a bespoke hamper full of culinary treats, they exquisitely dressed the table, including flowers and champagne. All set up as a surprise so that when my partner and I arrived home, it was beautifully staged in our garden.

Truly a day to remember. A thousand thank yous to both Ruby and Harry!

The Italian buffet Harry and his team prepared for our wedding celebrations at Dinham Weir House on 1st June 2024 was the pier de resistance of our day- we really couldn't have asked for anything more. Even days later we've got guests messaging us to tell us how impressed they were, that everything was so very tasty and that their service was impeccable (our grandparents and gluten free guests are incredibly greatful for the additional guidance Harry's team gave them).

Thank you for pulling out the stops and covering all of our requests no matter what- we would 100% recommend Evatt and Bullock to anyone!

An absolutely fabulous experience! Harry and Ruby cooked for our 25th wedding anniversary. The food was beautiful and tasted amazing! Their communication was very good. Harry helped choose the menu, taking into account our dietary preferences. Ruby's front of house was friendly and efficient. She dressed the table beautifully. We would thoroughly recommend them for your event.

Lucky enough to place the winning bid for a private dinner for 2 cooked by Evatt & Bullock at Dinham Weir House, with a night in the Mill Room.

Dinham Weir House is in the most stunning location, and we started the evening with a bottle of champagne overlooking the river. At 7.30 we took our seats in the chef's kitchen. Harry is a true genius! His food is quite simply sublime. Simple local and in season ingredients cooked to the very highest standard. Every single course looked like a work of art and was absolutely delicious - we couldn't fault anything.

Jen provided fantastic service and also chose the perfect wines for each course - loved all her suggestions.

This is a new venture, but if you are looking for that special meal, then Evatt & Bullock at Dinham Weir House is definitely to place to choose.
