Currently on my fourth day and am enjoying it so far. It's a bit 1960s here but that's fine.

The reason I'm giving four stars and not five is that you didn't think about wheelchair access. My grandmother can't use stairs very well.

If you like a dated past best decor and an actual bat infestation then this is the place for you.

The building itself is nice and with a bit of work it could be a lovely place to stay however its let down by a poor quality finish in the kitchen and bathrooms. They are probably 10 years past best. The beds are pretty old and I wouldnt like to guess when the bedding was last changed.

The house also has a problem with bats, during our weeks stay we have found about 3 dead bats and have had bats flying round inside the house every night.

Location is great, 1 min drive outside craven arms, which has a local independent supermarket, pubs, takeaways and such. At the actual barn, it's a quiet road, with lots of parking space, nice walks nearby. Only downside is there is a farm behind the barn (behind a hedge) that has machinery working away but it wasn't anything loud or disruptive. So many rooms, some with ensuites, some without. Apart from maybe one or two larger rooms (perfect for couples with babies/children), the rest were all equal which was positive. In terms of service, we met the owner (who lives 2 minutes down the road) and she ran through many of the things needed to keep the house going (how to use heating, water, recycling etc) which was great. Overall a very good stay, certainly somewhere to visit once with a large group of friends.

Spent the week at Halford Big Barn. Plenty of parking and a good location. Not too far from the nearest supermarket (Tuffins) and the rail station. Some parts of the furniture in the property were a bit dated, yet still comfortable. The only real downside was the mattresses which left many of the group feeling not very well rested. The mattress I slept on I could feel the springs going into my back.

A short term suggestion for the owner would be to acquire some mattress toppers until the mattresses can be replaced.

Overall very good experience and would stay again.

Google's AI asks me "How was Halford Big Barn"? It's a barn, it's certainly big and very very much closed due to pandemic lockdown. They let me park there while I went for a walk along Wenlock Edge and the Bynea and Quinney Brooks. This is a very lovely location.
