Visited Hurstpierpoint to attend a friend’s birthday party and stayed at the Horse. ||The room was lovely and clean, and warm (it was a cold evening). There was a great hot shower available and the bed was comfy. All of the staff were welcoming and friendly. ||We had an amazing cooked breakfast and would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

Super cozy pub with friendly staff (special nods to Hannah and Maddie), good food and a lovely Sunday Roast at a very reasonable price (a mere £4 more than I paid for good, but not great, haddock and chips in Guildford the night before). Friendly vibe, board games, dog-friendly inside and out…all of which made my wife and I happy to call the Horse our local while we stayed up the road for a couple of weeks. We might even drive back just for the Sunday Roast!

An amazing village pub.
The staff and locals are very warm, friendly and welcoming.
The food is outstanding, reasonably priced and comes from a varied menu and the service is second to none.
Something for everyone.
Hurst is a beautiful little Sussex village and this pub is an absolute must if you’re visiting.

Slept solidly through til 8.30 - so a bit of a shock as we were meant to be down for breakfast at that time! Second time we stayed and enjoyed it and very handy.

Had a roast here for a birthday. One of the kids ordered food and a fly came baked into it. Had to get this replaced. Others had the roast and they went for quantity not quality. Everything was undercooked including the beef which was beyond pink it was purple.

At the end they tried to make us pay full price. After saying again they offered to take the Mac and cheese off but that was it and the guy smiled and said sorry about this. We then had to get another member of staff who eventually gave 20% off the roasts. The male staff member was very rude and threatened to call the police although we were not dinning and dashing we simply did not want to pay £21 a roast that was awful and a baked fly. All in all. Just don’t bother

Very poor quality food at premium prices. They attempt to disguise the lack of quality by piling the plates up. We had one of each roast and all were very poor, uncooked (not just undercooked) meat and hard vegetables. Lacking in flavour. One of the children had mac and cheese, which was provided with a cooked-in fly. Staff handled the situation poorly when challenged. There’s plenty of good options locally, this isn’t one of them.

Room 3 as others have said is noisy (and colleagues in other rooms also said the same) due to be above the main bar and at the front of the building so gets all of the road noise. There is no discernible noise insulation. Windows don't seal well so there is no escaping the noise of hot-hatches with loud exhausts going past at all hours. The noise from the bar below is substantial whether it be music or voices.|Probably would be okay for the hearing impaired.||There is a hand shower in the bath tub - it is not a shower in the normal sense, and only those under 5 feet tall would be able to use it as anything other than a hand shower. I didn't know you could get mattresses so thin. Probably okay for small or short people.||Breakfast starts at 8.30 so is unsuitable for most business users starting their day earlier. And there is no flexibility. This is a case of the kitchen staff driving when they want to work and not of meeting customer expectations. The alternative that was offered was a cheese sandwich made the night before and left outside the bedroom door (to sweat a little) with a bottle of water! Probably more suited to non-business users who have flexibility in their day (or avid fans of sweaty cheese sandwiches).||Parking is limited to the roadside or a couple or so spaces that are at the side of the pub. More suited to non-drivers (i.e. take a taxi).

Went to the Horse Inn for a Sunday roast with friends. One of the roasts came out as the wrong order and then when it was changed it was missing items that were listed on the menu. One meal was the roast beef, it was basically a slab of fat which was horrible. We had asked if we could change some of the items and the lady acted as though we had kicked her dog. When I had said they had give me the wrong meal the lady huffed and rolled her eyes. Such a shame because we ate here on a Saturday night a few weeks prior and the staff were friendly and the food was pretty good. Shame the Roast Dinner was shoddy, over priced and staff with serious attitude problems. We wouldn't return now, which is a shame as it's our local.
