We have stayed in this hotel several times but on this occasion we were disappointed slightly.

I was not immediately recognised as IHG member.

No upgrade was offered although Ambassador Platinium member.

I got the same room I had booked.

Hotel is very convenient and spacious.

Room are fine clean and standard.

Not much room for clothes.

Limited plugs for charging.

At Breakfast time not good service on this occasion.

Check in was good really friendly and efficient, thanked me for being a IHG platinum member, unlike last time, I got offered points or a drink and snack. However when I went to use the voucher the assistant manager said I could only have a drink. I think he has a real issue with me or is just very rude. The room was good, heating was working this time, very clean and reasonably comfortable. Now my biggest issue is the food, firstly week end they only offer 3 items (being on a meal allowance this is awfull. The rest of the week the selection isn't great. What makes it worse is the quality, pizza I had on the Sunday was not tasty and when I received it the base was soggy, I had the curry which is obviously a microwave curry, with nan bread (nan was nice, curry watery). Breakfast is below average for a holiday inn Express

We're regulars at this holiday inn express & as always excellent customer service from start to finish except this time the staff were absolutely brilliant as the lift was out of order on our checkout & me & my wife are disabled. I managed the stairs slowly but my wife needed to be taken down the stairs in the rescue chair & she's extremely grateful for the help from the staff. The room was awesome as always & really peaceful. Quick check in & checkout. Breakfast was fantastic & excellent choices. Adequate disabled parking spaces available. Apart from the lift breaking down which can happen at any time we had a fantastic stay. Many thanks all.

Our stay over New Year was ok but not the best. The room was ok and a reasonable size. The staff on check in was great but the staff were generally ok. The breakfast was shocking and tbh if I had to pay for it I would have e sent it back. The bacon looked like it had been cooked and forgot about for an hour. And the sausages were just about edible. And generally the choice of breakfast was not great at all. But I realise it was an express but still the breakfast was of a poor choice

The reception was very good and couldn’t fault the stay apart from one thing.

We were told that there was just basic reduced menu for food at the weekend. This included things like pizza.

On Saturday after a long day we got back looking forward to a pizza and drink to be told there is no food at weekends.

There is even a big poster in reception advertising pizza being available! Very disappointed we asked if they had any takeaway menus likes at other holiday inn expresses. No, nothing. Very dissatisfied about this.

The hotel is easy to get to and the pub next door does excellent food. Reception is very clean and staff welcoming. The bedroom was well equipped except there were no tea spoons so had to go back down to reception for some. The bathroom was very small and there were hairs in the sink and shower (only very small hairs) couldn’t find the heating for the bathroom which was cold and only had a shower. In the twin bedroom the heating was above my bed which was a pain as it made my eyes very dry with the heat from it as you have to sit on the bed as no chairs or seating of any kind. Massive big cobweb in the corner which looked as if it had been there for some time. No plug sockets near the bedside tables so had to leave our phones on the floor no where near the beds.
Breakfast in the morning was cooked or continental which was nice. Apple juice was discussing!

My first issue was at check in with the assistant manager, when I gave him my IHG membership number, he wasn't interested, when I asked about the welcome drink, he said I have put the points on. First room they gave me heating was broken and telephone wasn't working, the room was absolutely freezing as the window had been left open, I had to go down to reception and ask for another room. The second room they gave me the heating was very poor and took hours to get warm, there was no TV remote in the room, I had to request on. My colleagues were also staying at the same time, they had the same issues with the heating.

Food is all microwaved and prepared and not great quality but they are charging a premium and there is very little choice. Breakfast is at best OK. When I had these issues I was told by the assistant manager that he would raise it with the manager. No contact. I have another visit to Oldbury, I have a booked into the hotel next to you, least I will get a decent meal and hopeful a warm room
