Lovely garden, chalet rooms you can sit outside in good weather and enjoy the sun. Only a short drive Rye and Camber Sands.

On arrival to collect key from main pub it’s apparent the pub is a bit run down and in need of a really good clean and refurbishment. The chap in the bar was not very welcoming. We looked at the menu found a lot of burger options and did not look very appealing. The reason we booked was because we needed pet friendly accommodation. Facilities were basic but have to see extremely clean. We paid for breakfast which was substantial but mostly fried, on asking for a poached egg option was told the kitchen could not cope with this…. This is a restaurant kitchen for goodness sakes!|The young man serving breakfast was very pleasant. I feel calling these units chalets is very misleading. As a holiday let owner myself I let a chalet comprising 2 bedrooms, a fully functioning kitchen and living room, shower room 5 minutes walk to a beautiful beach on the Isle of Wight. My high season rates are less during peak season than this bedsit out of season by about £80 a night. Therefore I feel this does not present good value for money. I trusted the reviews but they don’t ring true. Very disappointing. No dog walks nearby and a very busy road out front

A very charming get away set a mere 15 minute drive from Camber Sands. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are ideal for families. We had a lovely breakfast and great service. The only thing that needs improving is the quality of the evening meals which aren't great and a little tlc to the grounds but all in all we loved our stay and would come again.

My parents and I stayed in 2 chalets. Staff were lovely, yet professional. Rooms were clean, and ideal to use as a base to explore the fantastic countryside around. The owner said he would be freshening up the rooms, which would soon be great. The breakfast was lovely. I highly recommend anyone to stay. Nothing is too much trouble. I understand they are looking at adding things to do onsite. That would be great. Something for everyone.

Even though they were crazy busy, and in spite of long wait warnings, my DELICIOUS grilled chicken salad arrived before I'd even got half way through my beverage. Super nice people, fantastic meal, nice environment, and conveniently 5 minutes walk from my campground. Couldn't recommend enough!

The Great Escape is perfectly situated close to the historic town of Rye and surrounding places of interest. The chalet style accommodation was surprisingly roomy which was good as my friend and I had booked the twin room. Plenty of room for a short stay, comfortable beds. Great wi-if was availble should you need it. |The shower was first class, a very clean bathroom with lovely towels. |The fridge was stocked with milk and a large bottle of water was also provided. |Ed the proprietor was so friendly and made us feel very comfortable. He was a delight to chat to and made us very welcome. |As for the breakfast over at the pub on site also run y Ed... let’s just say you wont be needing lunch as it was huge! Perfectly cooked too and provided with either tea or coffee.|All in all this is a lovely little find and well worth a visit. Give it a go!

Really disappointed with our visit today.......had called yesterday for a drink and thought the food looked good so checked on google to see what time food was being served today - 6pm. We looked at the menu which had different prices to the pub website which wasn't good but decided to give it a go anyway as it was next to the campsite we were staying at.So we got back from our day out for 5pm so we could enjoy a Sunday Lunch only to be told that the kitchen was closed! I understand that the management have the right to set opening hours but it's really important to update your web details as most people check on there for that information. Really unprofessional.

Booked for a Sunday Lunch with 3 dogs. We had a very friendly wellcome and the service was excellent.
Food was really good and very tasty. The amount of beef and pork served with the roasts was very generous and even after we were full up we still had a little bit left to give the dog's for dinner later.
Would definitely recommend The Oak if you are looking for good food and a warm welcome if you are in the area.
