Great place to visit, my wife visits Joe's regularly for massages and really helps with her back.
She also loves to get other treatments. Waxing is very good apparently not that I'd know.
All staff are friendly and happy to help when I've been in booking surprise treats for the wife.

I went to the Retreat for a Mum to be Ritual recently and although it was great to have 2 hours to myself it wasn't as I had anticipated. I had looked forward to this pamper since getting a voucher for Christmas and had heard really amazing things from other Mothers about the hydratherm bed.

However I was told at the start of my treatment that the hydratherm massage was something done by a different person who is more "trained" and she wasn't there and it would be an 8 week waiting list to see her. That introduction then left me unsure and uneasy about what to expect from this treatment as I was still on the hydratherm bed and wasn't sure if the therapist I had was as "trained" in pregnancy treatments.

She exfoliated my legs at the start but focused so much on my shins and neglected my rest of my legs which was disappointing. I then had a bit of a massage on arms and shoulders but began to feel really unwell, feeling really hot and faint. I'm not sure if maybe I was too reclined at that point but after she got the seat adjusted more upright I felt a lot better.

Overall I just felt a bit like I wasn't at ease throughout, questioning whether this was the treatment I'd hoped for. I read the description afterwards and don't think I had the foot masque as described either. Just a lot of money spent and not what I had hoped.

I first came to The Retreat for a specialist pregnancy massage 7 years ago. It was a wonderful experience & I have gone regularly since for massages & waxing. The owner, Jo, is so friendly (as are all the women who work there) & really knows her stuff. The venue is beautiful too. It always feels like a special experience. Highly recommend.

It was my first visit to The Retreat Whickham today, what a lovely experience. I didn’t catch the name of the girl who looked after me but she was lovely, very professional and great at massage. I had a 90mins full body massage.
I left the salon stress free and very very relaxed thank you I will definitely be back 😌
