I was really looking forward to afternoon tea at Tales of Tea in St. Mary’s Guildhall, but honestly, it was a letdown. For £29.50 per person (plus service charge), I expected way more.

First off, the tea and coffee situation is dire—you get a pot of hot water with a tea bag or a pot of filter coffee, and that’s it. You only get one choice.

The food was super underwhelming. Sandwiches were bland, scones were cold, and the desserts were so sweet I couldn’t even finish mine. It's definitely not worth the price.

Service was pretty much nonexistent—you have to pay at the counter, and staff barely checked in. Plus, they don’t take Amex, which was annoying.

The toilets are in another building, so if it’s raining or cold, you’ll have to head outside. Oh, and there’s no WiFi or signal, so forget about using your phone.

The only good thing? The venue itself is beautiful, but that’s about it. Overall, it’s a very average afternoon tea with a fancy price tag. Wouldn’t go back!

I had one of the best afternoon teas I have ever had here. The sandwiches were tasty (I was allowed to substitute the salmon sandwich for a cheese and tomato tart - which I did not regret), the scone was soft and still warm, and the dessert selection was top notch. This included a chocolate plant pot with chocolate mousse inside. It was delicious. The staff were really attentive and friendly. I would definitely go again. Please note that the only food they serve on Saturday is the afternoon tea.

Very nice place. The atmosphere is very cool and striking. We had teas and coffees. The chai tea was delicious and the coffee was very smooth. The sizes of the teapots were large as well as the milk pots. The brownie was absolutely delicious. It is pricey but worth it for the taste and the atmosphere.

Excellent fizz afternoon tea at St Mary's Guildhall this afternoon. Lovely food, great vegan and gluten free options, sweet or savoury afternoon tea. Friendly, pleasant staff, beautiful table settings, and a lovely interior. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

My only niggle was that the first pot of tea we had tasted lukewarm, but the second pot was perfect.
