Comfortable beds and welcoming hosts made this stay so worthwhile. I would definitely consider again next time in Durham.||We decided to make the most of the weekend having spent the evening in Bishop Auckland watching the outdoor spectacle Kynren. The guesthouse is well-situated within half hour of the venue and on street parking was hassle free on Sunday without permits. The breakfast and service in the morning us a treat. Not often I wake up to pancakes. The Pancake cafรฉ is worth a visit even if not using the accommodation.

My fiance and I have just had the most amazing time staying in this beautiful townhouse. We felt very welcomed, looked after and well-fed too! Robert and Jane certainly gave this property their hearts and soul and their warm, unique personality. And of course, the pancake cafe downstairs is a little gem and should be considered to be put on the list of must-visit cafes in Durham ๐Ÿ™‚
We cannot wait to be back! Dave and Jadzia

Just spent the weekend in Durham and spent a night at the Georgian Town House. The hosts couldn't have been more welcoming, helpful or friendly. The two bedrooms we had were spotless and very comfortable. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the Pancake Cafe next door. Would stay here again if we visit Durham.

Fab hotel and family running it!! From the moment I stepped in it felt like home, with a lovely family to welcome me. Rooms were cute and cosy, nice addition of tea and coffee, lovely views, and as well as all this - the food was WONDERFUL. I haven't woken up to such delicious pancakes since my childhood. It is fabulously located, in fact (having lived in Durham for some years) I would say it is probably the best B and B that the small city has to offer. I will definitely be staying The Georgian Town house again next time I go back to visit Durham.

We couldnโ€™t fault Robert and Janeโ€™s hospitality: delicious pancakes, welcoming hosts, and a newly upgraded high-pressure shower! We felt spoilt. A great location for our 2-night stay in Durham. The pancakes were the stuff of dreams. We will be back.

Lovely warm welcome and very helpful advice on arrival.|As you enter, you immediately take in the quaint/twee feel of the Townhouse. Decor not to my liking but different! |Locationally perfect for town/uni/station! Walk out the door and everything is within 15 minutes.|Next to The Old Elm Tree pub - dropped in for pre dinner drink- great little pub with friendly locals. Noisy below our window quite late though and the Angel over the road was noisy but it was a Friday night so that's to be expected. |We had a twin bedded room and a very small double bed in an adjoining room - the family suite on the top floor.|Sink in each room and a shared bathroom. Tea and coffee facilities provided. Plenty of bathroom toiletries. Issues- toilet flushing was erratic and needed 3 goes to flush! Shower was useless. Only one large towel provided between 3 of us- that my hubby used and drenched ! So we were left with a hand towel each! So no shower for us! Only an overnight stay so luckily not a big deal. Beds were ok. |Breakfast is 8.30-9.30. They kindly agreed to start earlier as we needed to leave by 9am. |Very friendly lady doing breakfast. We all had pancakes. Hubby wasn't keen on his. My bacon and syrup one was nice but son and I agreed bacon was fatty and crispy bacon would be better!|Again that's a personal preference though. Big portions which was good and a choice of cereals /yoghurts / juice etc available.|Cash only which was ok for us but seems a bit behind the times. All in all- a fair price for the room inc breakfast for 3. A great location.|||
