The room was dirty, grubby and a bit worn out. The floor and sink especially needed a good clean. However, the mattress and bedding were good, so I had a good sleep.

The manager waited until around 10pm for me to check in so thanks for that. But plz, give the rooms a proper clean.

The pictures are not an accurate representation of the 'hotel'. Receptionist had little English. He pointed us in the direction of a steep staircase and we had to find our own way to the room. The building is like a rabbit warren. Had to go in search of shared toilet (which had no toilet roll, no soap and no drier!) and then got lost trying to find my room. |An unpleasant smell throughout the entire building. Lots of people mulling around despite the late hour. Felt unsafe venturing to the toilet in the middle of the night. Radiator was hanging off the wall in the bedroom. Walls are paper thin and you can hear guests in other rooms. Struggled to sleep due to the noisy road outside and doors banging. No Wi-Fi code. |We felt a huge sense of relief when we finally found our way back to the Reception the next morning to check out.|The only positive is the location. It is situated across the road from the airfield. Unfortunately our skydive was cancelled due to the weather. |We have to reschedule our skydive but we will definitely NOT be staying here again when we do.

I arrived at 10.55pm to check in they were extremely helpful and understanding. They offered me a free upgrade to an ensuite due to me waiting a few minutes. The room was lovely! Big, comfy, super clean and great amenities. This morning as I was checking out, the lady in charge immediately saw me struggling with my suitcases, and didn’t hesitate to help me. Not only carried one of them with a bag downstairs but all the way to the bus station. Definitely one of the best hotels with price-value relationship I’ve been. Thanks for the lovely stay!

This is definitely a budget hotel. Positives - there is a car park & the bed was comfy. Negatives - shown to room & got asked some questions about smoking which we couldn’t understand, the corridors to our room had had people smoking in, walked past a smashed window. The room was a good size but not very clean. It has been refurbished but the toilet isn’t level on the floor so rocks if you sit on it, there was a dried lump of something on the shower floor & where someone has drilled to put the TV bracket on the wall they didn’t hoover up all the bits of wall which landed on the floor. We left in the morning with no questions from reception on how our stay was or a thanks for staying. Furthermore the free breakfast is a lie.

I stayed, for one night, at The Budget Hayat Express because I had to spend an extra night in Durham and didn't want to spend a fortune on accomodation. The single room was clean and very simply furnished. The bed was comfortable and I enjoyed a relatively good night's sleep.||Upon arriving, it was like stumbling in to a strange dystopian society; dark corridors, a 'receptionist' who was relunctant to engage, scurrying figures and a maze like interior. This is clearly not an establishment for the faint hearted...||The communal shower and lavatories were clean and the water was hot and plentiful.||The most disturbing thing was the all pervading depressing and dismal atmosphere. The Hayat Express is more like a 'half way house' that a hotel. I felt a definite sense of relief when I checked out...

On arrival, the parking was excellent. The front steps leading to the front door were new and impressive. My wife and I were led upstairs to our room, the room door had a squeak like the Adams family's front door, which should have told me something. The room looked clean but the windows looked out onto a busy street and as there were no net curtains, anything personal had to be done with the main curtains closed. The bedside light consisted of 2 wires sticking out of the wall, nothing else. On the first night, we had no hot water in the private facilities. The next morning, we had no hot water in the private shower so I went to the communal shower where there was plenty of hot water, but no cold !! My wife and I were in the area for a family gathering, but after 3 days, we'd had enough and left early. I spoke to the owner/manager who would only say " the cleaner is not due in till Monday " There was no service in the hotel at all. No beds made, no rubbish bin emptied, no room cleaned. All in all, a bit of a disaster.

Car parking is impressive. The double room I took, with my wife was not worth the money charged. Our room looked out onto a busy street, and with no net curtains, we had to close the main curtains to do anything personal, like dressing/changing. The bedside light consisted of 2 wires sticking out of the wall, nothing else. No hot water from the tap on the first night and no hot water in the shower at all. My wife and I packed our bags and left early.
