The first issue we had is that one of our party turned up at 9.30pm - we'd turned up at 8pm and told the hotel reception that the last member was on their way maybe 2 hours behind us. "No problem" we were told and no issues were flagged and the bar that was attached to the reception was supposed to be open until 11pm. Our colleague turned up around 9.30pm, but the reception was closed, the bar and reception had been shut up (at 9.15pm it turns out) and no-one was around. In fact if we hadn't already checked in earlier and had a key to the lobby, our colleague would have been left outside in the cold and dark as the lobby area was shut too with no contact details on the door outside. There was a notice board with an emergency contact in the lobby area - not helpful if you've already been locked out and couldn't see through a wall and around a corner - but it didn't make any difference. No-one was answering the hotel phone (we could hear it ringing) - no one answered the "emergency number" (it went straight to Tesco voicemail) - and no-one got back to us after we left multiple messages on the "emergency number". When I spoke to the manager the next morning to ask what had happened, they said that the emergency phone was "sometimes quiet". When I asked why they used a quiet phone for the emergency contact and why she hadn't replied to the voicemails we left around 12 hours earlier, she said that the phone reception wasn't good. When asked why they used an emergency phone that was too quiet to hear and allegedly had poor reception, we didn't get an answer - and we didn't get an answer as to why our voicemails still hadn't been replied to. She did explain that they didn't normally have check-in after 8pm - and that her colleague was new and should not have told us it would be ok to check in later if he was going to shut everything up and go home, knowing that someone else was on their way to check in. Ok - someone new might have forgotten - but not answering the emergency contact phone is absolutely unacceptable.||The travel agents who we booked it through couldn't raise the hotel either when our colleague tried to check in (the travel agents got back to me at 11.20pm and said that they had given up), so our colleague had to check into a different hotel - it turns out that they were the lucky one. We'll obvious chase the refund on that, but probably for the other 2 rooms - and here is why.||Where to start.....well every room in the hotel seems to have a macerator toilet and they also seem to be connected to the sink and shower drains, so every time someone uses the toilet, runs a tap or has a shower, there is a sound like a skip lorry unloading a skip. They almost seem to be calling to each other through the building. If someone has a shower, the macerator goes off every 30 seconds or so as the water runs through it - and the noise they make travels through the building. You can also hear everything in the room above - every step producing a creak or bump. One of the most disturbed nights I've ever had with people using the showers until midnight and an early start as the showers and associated macerator mating calls started around 6am.||How this place describes itself as a boutique hotel is beyond me and there is a case for trade descriptions to be involved - just look at the photos. Sticking misaligned "feature" wall paper on one wall is not the definition of a boutique hotel. The decor is shabby - there was mould in the grout of the shower - black and orange - must be boutique mould I assume - one of the ceilings looked like it was unsound and had suffered from a leak. The silicone work around the bathroom looked like it has been done by a 3 year old. The lovely brown towels (I wonder why you'd choose brown towels) had stains on them that I suspect (hope) were bleach. The rubber seal didn't fit the shower blind properly so I came out of the shower to a large puddle.||When I pulled back the duvet I noticed a couple of marks on it - one was a dark spot but the other was a small brown crusty lump that was stuck to the duvet cover. It clearly wasn't clean and so I had to sleep on top of the cleaner looking side of the duvet with my clothes on. What more can I say about the bed - I didn't feel like it was clean enough to sleep in. I decided that I'd have to call the hotel management....but then I remembered that they didn't answer the emergency phone and hadn't replied to the messages that we'd already left.||When we went down to breakfast - the "continental" selection was underwhelming at best - half a loaf of bread with only white crusts left (just out of photo shot), two oranges and 6 small boxes of cereal - maybe they were hoping for a messiah to turn up or something and do miracles with the "continental" breakfast - and some of the crockery didn't look clean. I had a very watered down orange juice and a cooked breakfast which to be fair was good apart from the sausage. My colleague had cereal - when they were around half way through their bowl of cereal I asked them what the brown marks were that appeared to be running down the side of the bowl - given that they didn't have a hot drink and hadn't had coco pops. Turns out it was the crusty remnants of something brown that had been in or by the bowl previously (photo included).||The duty manager apologised for the issue with check-in the next day, but said that their rooms were all carefully cleaned. Simply denied that there could be any issue with the cleanliness and when I said they could go up now to look they just stayed sitting down and said the rooms are clean. They seemed a little defensive too - but this is not surprising given that they said they had the emergency phone that wasn't answered and the voicemails that were never replied to. Won't be going back and can't see how this place has higher scores on other review sites. ||If I could have, I wouldn't have clicked on the one green ball. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in and I've been to Blackpool.

The staff were all really lovely, my room was small, the bathroom was the best part of the room lol. The single bed was the worst bed I’ve ever slept in! It was squeezing an creakin an any movement. It was just a cheap single bed that was horrible. I’ll still go hack though as forgetting I hardly slept lol, the rest of the experience was canny. Lad servin in bar was sound, forget his name, from darlo. A lovely lad he is a, all the stafff were lovely to be fair but the bed was the shortest bed I’ve ever slept in in my whole life lol.

Went in on November 5th, before going to a fireworks display. The staff was very helpful and made the perfect whisky and lemonade. Lovely evening chatting with friends.

Excellent Sunday lunch of roast beef and turkey .Great yorkshire pudding roasties and excellent vegetables (6 different ).service excellent by cheerful and attentive staff .choice of starter or dessert available but main meal was excellent couldn't eat a dessert

Stayed in the village for a couple of nights & ate here both nights. The food is very reasonably priced, good portions & really tasty. Can recommend the parmo. The staff were excellent, couldn't do enough to help, quick service & went out of their way to make the kids feel welcome. We'll definitely be back.

We enjoyed our visit. The staff are friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is lively and bright, and the menu is fun and modern.
I had fish burger with slaw and fries, and sticky toffee pudding. We will be visiting again.
