We booked Ridgway for our wedding in July as recommended by our venue. They were brilliant from start to finish, the planning process was easy with them, making changes to our menu and the table set up the day before.

We went for the BBQ menu and the food was absolutely delicious and so much of it, all of our guests loved it too. We were delighted with the service from Ridgway, their staff were incredibly professional, attentive and ensured that everything ran smoothly throughout the meal. They were great with handling our guests' allergies and dietary requirements.

Nothing was too much hassle for the team, they were flexible and went above and beyond to ensure the meal was perfect. The food was outstanding, and we received so many compliments from our guests. I can't recommend them enough for anyone looking for exceptional catering for their wedding!

Ridgway catered our wedding fabulously in September 2024. They did a brilliant job and the food was all delicious. We’ve had so many complements on how lovely the food was. You’re always worried about how guests will enjoy their food at your wedding, but absolutely no complaints. We even had guests say it was the best beef they had ever had! The service was also brilliant as well. They were really responsive during the planning process and accommodating to changes we wanted to make. Also big shout out to when my husband and I got back from photos and we thought we’d missed the canopes but then a lovely waitress appeared with a plate of everything just for us! Really was 5* service. Thank you!

Ridgway Caterers provided a buffet for a party and we couldn't fault the service or quality of food. We did have a few guests with dietaries and they were so helpful and covered this for us as we didn't have a clue.

The venue we chose for our wedding day sadly only used this caterers, which we were slightly apprehensive about. However, we had really high hopes for Ridgways as the initial experience was really positive and professional and the tasting was excellent. Sadly, we did not have the same positive experience on our wedding day.
- we paid for the bar to be open all day and to have our own supplied drinks served alongside- only to have certain rude waitresses telling the guests there was none of our beer or non alcoholic drinks left. We were handed a lot of this back the following day so it certainly wasn’t in short supply.
- All except 2 (who were lovely!) waitresses were incredibly rude. Even down to one dropping food on the table and picking it up with her fingers - not very professional
- Despite paying for bar staff and staff to serve our drinks, and having multiple telephone conversations about this, we were never told that our wine would stop being ‘served’ when the final plate was cleared. A wine bottle was snatched out of a guests hand at this point and told it was in the terms and conditions. When challenged, a senior member of staff was unable to show us these terms and conditions, and they said ‘we have a bar and we need to make some money’.
- We were told non alcoholic drinks and red and white wine would be placed on the tables at the start of the meal, and after that would be served to guests. No wine was served and no non alcoholic drinks were placed on the tables, despite there being excess bottles left the following day. A coke at the bar was ÂŁ7.
- Finally, at the bar the beer was flat and tasted off and when challenged the bar staff had no idea of how to fix this.
- There have been no requests for feedback despite spending a substantial amount of money.
Overall, a really disappointing experience for what we expected to be outstanding on such a special day.

We enjoyed our gorgeous wedding food from Ridgeway at Alcumlow Wedding Barn and couldn’t have been happier! From the initial enquiry, contact has been very efficient and incredibly helpful. When covid made us change our date, Ridgeway were one of the only suppliers sticking to their original price at booking and we were so incredibly grateful for the gesture while we were facing all the rising costs around us. For our wedding breakfast, we wanted to have a blend of a traditional Roast Dinner mixed with traditional German food and Ridgeway mastered all the German recipes without any push back - making our day that extra bit more special. Even the German guests commented on how authentic the food tasted - the best compliment of all! While all the staff have been incredibly accommodating and helpful on the day keeping us informed of any changes and letting us make decisions on the day without interrupting our day at all, we would love to make a special mention to Laura from the admin team who has been be accommodating and helpful answering our millions of questions and requests in the run up to the big day - you’ve been an absolute star and we wish we could have had you join us for our big day too!

Incredible food and service from start to finish from ridgeways. The tasting was so good and the range of choices so wide we went back a second time! On the day of the wedding itself the service was absolutely flawless and also very personal. Maxine in particular was amazing and even ended up helping our photographer with some of the photos. We received a lot of complimentary comments from guests about the standard of all the food having been the best they’d tasted at a wedding which says it all really. There’s a reason these guys win awards every year, best wedding caterers in the north west bar none. Thanks for everything - from Jenna and Alex

Beware - We had no choice but to use this company for our wedding as they were the only caterers our venue worked with.
Luckily they seemed friendly and the food we had at our trial tasting was delicious.
However, when it came to our big day, months later I’m still left feeling upset, regretful and disappointed.
The first of the main 2 reasons for this was that we chose a ‘bespoke’ package, for which we paid a lot for, specially so that we could choose exactly what we wanted (I appreciate this isn’t the case for all couples but food in general and the type of food served on our big day is/was HUGELY important to us). For one of the mains, we chose a ‘mock beef style’ burger with melted cheese - we were very specific that we did not want any kind of bean or spicy burger, we described want we wanted and sent multiple reference photos so we were relieved when our trial of the burger was exactly what we wanted.
However, on the big day what did they serve to our guests… a spicy bean burger! Not only did they serve the exact thing we didn’t want but they didn’t even inform us of this before the wedding or on the day! After our wedding day we of course relayed our upset and tried to convey how important it was to us but we were met with a don’t care attitude such as ‘well it wasn’t communicated properly internally’ and ‘some of the guests enjoyed and ate the burger’ which isn’t the point at all when we chose a bespoke package for OUR wedding!? Eventually after multiple attempts at contacting, explaining to different staff members it seems the owner didn’t particularly care either and refunded us the difference (which they clearly weren’t even going to do anyway even though they served a cheaper option) but nothing in the way of compensation or genuine apology for ruining one of the main courses of our wedding meal.
Secondly, they only left the buffet out for a very short period of time… maybe an hour/hour and a half. Again, beforehand we explained the environment was very important to us and we wanted minimal impact and thus to waste as little food as possible. There was a lot of buffet food because we still had to pay for the guest’s who couldn’t attend meals and so we added that food to the buffet in a hopes that it would get eaten. Unfortunately, a lot of guests didn’t have enough buffet food or any at all as it was packed up. We asked why it was taken away and they advised the maid of honour told them to which is a total lie, when we advised this wasn’t the case they then said the groom said to which was another lie! Finally they just said they thought ‘someone’ told them to pack it away which was a mistake but there was no compensation and/or no genuine apology. Luckily I had asked for it to packed away (we took home trays, upon trays, upon trays of food it was an absolutely ridiculous amount!) otherwise it would have all gone in the bin which is just disgusting.
All in all, nearly half a year later I’m still left feeling so sad about these things that but a dampener on the biggest most important day of our lives and thus I would not recommend this company.
