Stayed here 2 nights whilst working on a job down near Crewe. Mary was so welcoming and came out to meet me and grabbed my case. Room was cosy and clean and had a fantastic sleep as it was so quiet. Shower hot and powerful. Breakfast was lovely on both days, with plenty of choice.|There was also a lounge room with Tv etc and a small kitchen that guests can use with microwave, plates etc which was an added bonus.||Would definitely stay here again.

What a shame, a mostly lovely, welcoming & friendly family running a poor excuse for a guest house. While the setting is gorgeous - a working dairy farm next to a canal in pretty countryside - the interior is such a let-down. Our room was smelly, dusty and full of cobwebs. Even after we asked them to vacuum it there were still cobwebs in every corner and in all the cupboards etc. The towels were smelly and didn't feel fresh. The surfaces in the room were sticky and smeary. The cold tap stopped working for periods of time, (which we were told was a common occurrence), and then at other times it wouldn't stop running! One evening we were locked out and the man who eventually let us in was behaving very strangely. Breakfast was passable but after 2 nights became boring and tasteless. Paying £60 a night for 2 of us in a double room we felt it was way overpriced. We have paid the same money for a fantastic room at the lovely, clean and welcoming Pear Tree Lake Farm in Balterley, which we we would highly recommend. Certainly wouldn't stay at Higher Elms again.

Wish I had read the reviews prior to booking. The smell of cat urine in the house was terrible. The room was scruffy with wall paper coming off the ceiling. The approach to the front door was over grown with plants and weeds. The shower did not work and there was no warm water to shower. Potentially its a lovely location next to the canal and the owners are nice people, but the B&B is run down and not worth the money.

I have stayed at Higher Elms Farm twice (both times for family christenings). |The welcome and hospitality are first rate. Nothing is too much trouble. |Breakfast is great. There is easy access to the canal side with restful walking.|There is even a gift shop!|

This looked lovely on the website and I love a farmhouse B&B. However, the smell of Tom cat spray is overwhelming, all over the house and I was kept awake by rats running about in the roof above my room all night. The kitchen was filthy too. A nice landlady but not a place to stay.

I’ve stayed at Higher Elms farm regularly since February for work. What can I say... lovely peaceful location with a very friendly welcome. ||||Nothing is to much trouble, the breakafast has lots of choice and is just what is needed for a days work.||||I would highly recommend a stay if you want somewhere to feel home from home.

Nice small family run B&B. The owners are welcoming, lovely views of the Cheshire countryside, fantastic walks along the canal and surrounding area's. Worth a walk to the local pub. Rooms clean and tidy, lovely breakfast.
