We chose this hotel as we were seeing friends in Clifton. We chose it as they had parking on offer for those staying. Having a large estate car, it was quite tight getting in, and deliberately chose a space near the exit to be able to get out easily. Would recommend coming in a small car if you have one.

The staff were friendly upon arrival, and check in was fast. We went straight out and returned after midnight for our stay.

The room was on the ground floor and there was double glazing to soundproof the space. The room was quiet over night. We did find the room quite hot, and unsuccessfully managed to open the small window at the top.

We chose a room with a double bed and this was too small for us. We should have chosen a room with a larger bed.

The room was clean on arrival and was impressed with the ground coffee and cafetiere in our room for making coffee. A nice change not to have just instant coffee.

A good stay if you are looking for proximity and affordability.

Katie was very friendly and welcoming when I checked in and was extremely helpful throughout my stay. I stayed in room 50 which was a double room overlooking the side of the hotel. I have never slept in a comfier bed in a hotel. The room was clean, quiet and spacious. A card from the head of the reception team welcoming me to the hotel was a lovely personal touch. This is a great hotel in a fantastic location and is only a short walk from both the city centre and Whiteladies Road and Clifton Downs and village.

Lovely stay and excellent service, especially from Peter at 6 in the morning when I had a phone crisis and ran out of tea. He was very helpful and professional. Bed was very comfy and fruit was a lovely touch. Excellent powerful and hot shower. I last stayed here about 7 years ago and it's still good value and friendly.

Noah, Marek, Katie and Judith made us feel so welcome. We brought our old Jack Russell Seamus along for our trip and he was made to feel like a very important boy. He had his own cushion and there was a lift so we didn’t have to traipse him upstairs.
Lovely room and veggie food.
Thanks also to the room cleaning and setting up staff, especially the woman who showed us to our room.
Thanks all we will be visiting again

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is well placed to see the city. There is a lively pub in the basement that has lots of outdoor space which I'm sure will be good in the summer. The room was not up to much though, small, in need of decorating and the shower was poor. Not worth what was charged. We enjoyed Bristol very much and will return, but unlikely to stay at the Clifton again.

While the premises is dated, the facilities are well maintained and clean. What made our stay even more special was||1) We left our previous accommodation one day early and when we called to make our booking, Judith not only gave us a great rate but made us feel confident that we would be looked after.||2)All the extras made our stay so comfortable, such as welcome bowl of fruit, ground coffee with plunger, comfortable king bed and great shower.||3) We also took advantage of secure car parking (at a reasonable rate).||All the staff made our stay with The Clifton Hotel very pleasurable. Judith when booking, Noah at check in, Tia with housekeeping and Tazmin when checking out. Overall a wonderful experience. Thank you

I received a courtesy call from Katie ahead of my stay at The Clifton and found her to be extremely perceptive of my needs and was then so impressed when I checked-in that she'd taken the trouble to reserve me a room that was perfect for my needs.|The hotel provided a most comfortable stay and is in a great location to explore the city. The bar and restaurant below the hotel is also extremely good with a great breakfast menu.

It was a lovely clean room although the double bed seemed a bit on the small side. The staff were so nice! Had a lovely telephone conversation with Africa after I'd booked and forgot to find out about the car park. He explained everything and put my mind at rest. I made a point of getting the names of the staff as it's rare to come across such helpful people. A special thank you to Tamsin and especially Noah, who managed to get us a reservation for dinner in the nick of time, and also to Charlie in the restaurant who went out of his way to help. A very nice stay!
