We have stayed here many times and it is a great location for us to visit family in the area. Maria and Archie are unfailingly welcoming and helpful hosts.
Max Mills is a working farm and the cows, and especially the deer in the adjacent fields, provide endless entertainment.
The peaceful location is accessed from a narrow country lane and although having the feeling of being quite remote (in a very good way) it is still close to local facilities and attractions and the motorway can be reached in less than 15 minutes.
There are many rewarding walks that can be commenced from the door (no driving required). I am progressively adding these to the OS Maps App so that they are available to all.
We will be back at Easter 2019 for, I think, our eighth visit.

Quiet working farm, Cottages are in a block and sound travels so depends upon others for how quiet it is. Rooms are reasonable size with plenty of storage space. Kitchen reasonably well equipped. Wi-Fi however was not very fast and connections kept dropping, so much so that we quickly moved to using mobile hot spot as it was both quicker and more reliable. Owners helpful and friendly,

A lovely week spent here as a family. A wonderfully peaceful and comfortable base that was well equipped and the owners were very welcoming. Plenty to see and do so would consider returning again.

Cramped living rooms and absolutely no basics provided, eg no tea towels, dish cloths, bin liners, salt or pepper... I could go on... Also frosty response from landlady when approached on this and other subjects.
