Spent the afternoon in Shoreham. We ended up in The Samuel Palmer. Been here a few times before but first time eating. It’s a great country pub with a nice courtyard at the back and traditional setting inside. Had burger and chips, it was nice and did what it said on the tin. Burger was a little on the dry side but had great flavour. Drinks reasonably priced for the area and friendly attentive staff. Planning on returning for dinner in the summer.

Popped in here for a post walk pint yesterday. It definitely looks lovely now, comfortable and attractive and not as bland as some modern makeovers. Bar staff were lovely also.

Being a sunny March day we went into the garden which wasn't so good however. There are too many tables and they are very close together restricting movement and also a massive canopy that blocks out 90% of the sunlight to the space which seems a rather strange idea. Luckily it was quiet so we were able to get a table (partly) in the sun

I had originally sent this review as an email to the business but considering I have not received a response from them, I am submitting this publicly so others learnt from my experience.

We were very disappointed with our recent visit to the Samuel Palmer. We understand it gets busy, especially around Christmas, but we had a bit of a rough time which could have easily been solved with better communication.

First, we were told there was a hold on food orders. They offered a seat outside to have a drink whilst the kitchen caught up. I asked if we could reserve a table for one hours time. We eventually got seated and waited... and waited... for someone to even take our drink order. I went up to the bar and it turns out the kitchen had completely run out of food because their delivery didn't show up! We would have gone elsewhere if we'd known that upfront.

Honestly, it felt like there wasn't much communication between the kitchen and the front of the house.

We've enjoyed the pub in the past, so hopefully this was just a one-off.

Plush, very nicely done up pub a short walk from Shoreham train station. A very cosy place to pop in winter, with two fireplaces in the relaxed pub area. Good selection of local ales, including Stay Wild who are based near Shoreham. Beer was in good condition. I also had the sausage roll from the bar menu which was very tasty. They do a full menu in the restaurant area which sounded good.

Prices are expensive in the restaurant, I thought the bar menu was good value for the quality of the food. Service was very friendly. Very good pub.

Firstly I would say this is a very nice place and I would definitely come again and try some more of the food. We came for Sunday lunch and had roast dinners. The meat was lovely, really good quality and tasty and the wine as you would expect was excellent. The service was also good. I was slightly disappointed with the gravy - thin meat juices rather than rich and tasty, and the dessert portion I had saved myself for was tasty but rather small. Overall I think it is expensive for two courses and wine for a roast dinner and dessert (about £50 a head) - the pub in its previous existence did excellent roasts for less, as other pubs still do in the Sevenoaks area. But I would definitely come back again another day and try the a la carte menu which sounds a bit more special.

On Friday night we visited the Samuel Palmer pub & restaurant in Shoreham. We were a group of 5 gents & 4 ladies.

We started sitting outside in the beautiful beer garden, it got a little chilly so the manager kindly turned on the outside heater & provided blankets for the ladies to keep us all warm.

When we then wished to move inside the manager again could not have been more helpful, happy to push tables together or find a space where we could all sit. The inside of the pub has been completely renovated to an incredible level, the highest possible standards have been put in place across the building.

Some of us sat at the bar where 4/5 staff were busy serving all the customers very promptly. I am a self diagnosed "fuss pot" when it comes to drinks, but the selection is wide enough to please any palette. I opted for the new version of Hofmeister Helles, served in branded ice cold glasses from the freezer and beautiful to drink.

One of the staff was concentrating on making cocktails, properly I noted, with muddler in hand. The smell of the fresh mint in the Mojito was just to much to resist, so we tried a few of those too, simply exquisite.

If there was but one criticism, it was self inflicted, I had eaten before I came out, the food being eaten all around me looked & smelled phenomenal.

On my next visit, which will be soon, I am definitely getting some of those Korean chicken wings.

We found this place after doing the Shoreham circular walk and it seemed very popular with a good selection of ales and lagers. We didn't eat but the food looked amazing. We'll come back another time!

Went here for lunch after doing a 7m circular walk. Cosy, really friendly, and fantastic food. I will definitely go back. Shout out to the waitress (who's lived in Shoreham 37yrs) so lovely and really sold some other locations for us to walk in. Great service, great food!
