Mixed Experience at The View – Lovely Staff but Major Issues

We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment at The View, and unfortunately, the experience did not live up to our expectations.

Positives:

The staff were absolutely lovely—kind, welcoming, and always smiling. However, the check-in process was far too long, with lots of paperwork to fill out.

The apartment was spacious, which was a definite plus.

Negatives:

Terrible cleanliness: When I opened the microwave to heat my baby’s bottle, I found a moldy fish and chips inside—clear proof that it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. I had to clean it myself, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this standard.

Lack of responsiveness: I wanted to call reception to report the issue, but the room phone didn’t work.

False advertising about the view: For a hotel named The View, ending up in a basement room with a view of walls is simply outrageous given the price.

Horrible mattresses: Sleeping was a nightmare—the springs dig into your back, making it impossible to get a comfortable rest.

Extremely noisy: It was impossible to get a good night's sleep due to constant noise. If you're looking for a quiet and restful stay, this is not the place.

Strange TV experience: It felt like our TV remote controlled multiple rooms, because at one point, our TV seemed possessed, turning on and off or changing channels on its own!

Unreliable payment system: The card machine didn’t work, meaning I had to leave my bank card, which felt very insecure.

Conclusion: Despite the adorable staff, I cannot recommend their two-bedroom apartments. The cleanliness, noise, comfort, and overall experience were far from acceptable. If you're looking for rest and relaxation, this is definitely not the place. A huge disappointment.

£50 for a half pint of beer and a bottle of water! |On arrival a’ deposit ’ of £50 will be demanded. A practice I have never experienced before in a lifetime of business and leisure travel. I was assured that any balance would be refunded when we checked out. Despite only buying items priced at £6.50 the funds removed from my bank account have not been returned nearly a week later despite several phone calls phone calls and emails. |The last email received stated that they have no details of my stay.

We're staying here at the moment. Fabulous hotel, the room is large and clean and we have a sea view too.|All the staff have been excellent, even the very busy girl in the bar/restaurant last night. Smiling and helpful even under pressure. |Excellent value and location and the meal we had last night was also very good.

Everything about this hotel surpassed our expectations. Our room was amazingly cozy, clean, and the shower felt like a spa experience. The bed was so comfortable and the view of the water from our room was incredible. I wanted to live there. The hotel staff was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and polite. They truly went above and beyond to make our stay the most enjoyable and relaxing it could be. I honestly cannot say enough positive things about this hotel. I will definitely stay there again. Highly recommended!!

Stayed here for one night as meeting up with friends to go to a 70’s, 80’s, 90’s adult disco at the leas. On arrival we were met by Ben on reception who was an excellent host on check in and also on our return after our night out! Thank you so much Ben for all the helpful tips and being so nice and helpful. Really made our stay so much better. The rooms were spotless and comfortable with the most amazing view over the sea. The bar staff were very friendly and service was also excellent. Parking is also sorted for you on arrival. We will definitely be staying here again, what a find. Thank you

Perfect location for dining and drinking in Folkestone Harbour. Friendly staff match prices from Booking.com, and the beautiful sea view enhances the experience. Unfortunately, there is no free parking for guests. Overall, it offers a great price for a pleasant stay in the area.

A really pleasant hotel on the boardwalk. The reception desk and serving staff were veru knowledgable and assisted with directions and guidance. Bed was super comfortable with walk in shower. Food - breakfast and dinner was extremely tasy and excellent value for money. I will return in the future.

The hotel is a bit run-down, Victorian England style! It's clear that management didn't put all their efforts into the decor. The rooms are quite large, but the acoustics are a disaster. You can hear everything that's going on in the neighboring rooms! Above, below, and to the sides. During my stay, a guest turned on their television at 4:00 a.m. I wanted to inform reception... Since no one answered, I had to get up, get dressed, and knock on the neighbors' door. Unacceptable... The breakfast is spartan and in no way justifies the £15 per person charge.|The reception staff is anything but friendly. They clearly make you feel like you're in the way if you ask a question. I wasn't given a bill at checkout. I sent three follow-up emails. I'm still waiting... In short, a bad experience overall. I strongly advise against it.
