The food is up to standard. The prices are just a little tiny bit high. £27 quid for takeaway fish chips, large mushy peas, scampi and a fish cake, some sauces... It's good but It's Not the cheapest. It either needs to be the very best... And it's not far off it.... Or cheaper to be the best value. This is only my opinion. And I would definitely still eat there again, Just more often if it was a tiny bit cheaper.

First time trying here as previously have always gone to Dhillons but relatively new to the area & was unaware of Balls til I passed on high street. Seemed to have a long history Have to say pretty disappointed. The chips were greasy & soggy , the fish was all completely stuck to the wrapping when we got home & also very greasy. Why not just shake it off properly & also maybe use one of the hundreds boxes on the counter would probably help as most places do these days. £23 + for 2 fish, 1 chips & 1 mushy peas also seemed very steep , especially for the quality served. Will revert back to Dhillons as they seem to serve up 9/10 quality every single time. Lesson learned

What an absolute BRILLIANT place to go for afternoon tea.The interior is warm and inviting. An excellent selection of fresh, yummy treats as well as delicious sandwiches and other savouries. Unlimited coffee and teas included in the price, EXCELLENT value. Staff were delightful and constantly checking that you had everything you needed.The owner is vibrant, funny and very charismatic. I definitely hope to return. Highly recommend this delightful establishment.👍

Once again, a super meal (for a party of 6) all of us having a variety of items on the menu. Food, from scampi, beef curry, chicken stir fry to a children's sausage and chips, was enjoyed by all and only empty plates returned to the kitchen. Service was friendly, quick and very efficient. The Christmas decorations added to the usual welcoming atmosphere and a lovely time was had by all. My grand-daughter can't wait to return next time we visit our relatives who live close by.

I've been to this chippy many times when working in that area, but on this occasion, I was very disappointed with the quality of food. The fish cake was covered with thick batter that was like leather, and the chips were slightly shrivelled and tough to chew. This was way below their normal standards.

Fish was nice, piping hot. Chips under cooked, asked for salt n vinegar didnt get any. Good portion size. Surprised to see the sauces already made up in tubs and microwaved, never seen this before and deffo puts me off.

First time visiting here and what an absolute delight, loved it. Not only serves fish & chips but other main meals and have specials too. The corned beef pie was lush.

I was greatly disappointed by our food from this chip shop. My fiancé has been talking this restaurant up all evening whilst we were working at an event nearby resulting in our attending on it's last day of business before Christmas.
It was well before closing time and the first disappointment was that they had no mushy peas available but they had haddock (Which is not on the takeaway menu behind the counter!)
When we arrived home in Corbridge we unwrapped our haddock and chips to find that the batter on both our fish was undercooked and still a pasty mush under the very uncrispy outer layer. After we both scrapped this off our fish we were pleased that at least the fish seemed to be cooked and the chips were ok.
No chance of returning especially when they charge over £13 per portion.
