Absolutely amazing!

We were lucky enough to be able to stop in for Hake’s kitchen residency at Deep North. Everything was amazing! We had the crispy hake, crab donuts, halloumi bites, courgette fries, salad and butterscotch donuts and I cannot say enough how delightful it all was. Highlights were the sauces (made from scratch on site), which were a ketchup and aioli which I’m fairly sure I could drink happily, and the peas. I adore peas but have always felt kind of blah about mushy/mint peas with fish and chips; these were the absolute best mint peas I have ever had with fish and chips. They had a lovely refreshing taste and complimented the fish and chips beautifully. The donuts and butterscotch were also delightful (they looked so good we started before I could take a photo) - we shared them between the three of us but we all wished we had ordered our own individual serving because they were so good! We will absolutely be returning to the food truck!

Excellent food cooked perfectly and very reasonably priced. We had some oysters to start a followed by the fried hake and chips, fried doughnuts with crab, and crispy whitebait. My partner said it was the best tartare sauce he’s ever had. Will definitely visit again, highly recommend!

Superb fish and chips. All the extras included are well tasty (peas, sauces) as well and the portion size is substantial with top notch presentation. Tried at Donzoko tap room, Newcastle.

Just went to the pub and Hake were outside. Best fish and chips we’ve had since… well maybe ever? Everything done really well. Best of luck with your restaurant berth, you deserve it - we’ll be going!

We had a takeaway from here today, two fish and chips and it was absolutely superb! Best fish and chips we have ever had, we will definitely go back! Plus the condiments were all in recyclable containers
