We recently had a family lunch at the Cliff Hotel and we were so impressed with the service. We were immediately greeted by a kind and friendly staff member, who was more than happy to accommodate a large table of 7 with no booking. I believe his name was Justin. Justin and the other staff members on that day went above and beyond, checking in on us regularly and helping us with ordering when some of us were a bit unsure on what to get!
The food was delicious and the views are amazing. The restaurant itself is very clean, modern and has a great vibe to it! I could see it being a great venue for large tea parties or other events such as birthdays.
Thanks again to Justin and the team for making our family lunch a memorable one 🥰

Great experience, Food was cooked perfectly. Ruby was amazingly attentive and was really honest with her drink recommendations. Biscoff Martinis were excellent. Mum really enjoyed it and managed to be in the middle of everyone on the L shape laid table which is what she wanted. Will definitely go back, for at least more drink recommendations!

We've been meaning to visit here for a while and just never seemed to get round to it. I'm kinda disappointed that we hadn't made the effort before because its a little gem. We only stopped in for a hot beverage and a small bite to eat. From the moment we entered we were greeted very nicely by the lady on reception who directed us to our needs. All the staff were really nice and took time to listen and respond accordingly. The drinks and food were of a good standard and at a really reasonable price. On the way out I said something to one of the house keeping staff and even though she was obviously extremely busy she took the time to talk to me. The views from the terrace of the sea and harbour were really nice to relax to.

Had a lovely lunch in the terrace over looking the beach. The staff were amazing. So friendly and loved my dog.. they gave him a lot of attention. We were made really welcome. Most places tolerate dogs but this hotel genuinely loved having him there. The lunch was delicious and served quickly. The waitresses were super attentive. The view was gorgeous even on a cold misty winter afternoon. Will definitely go back. Thank you for being so kind

Check in and reception greeting was great. Would have preferred to have been told about view of building work from our room at the time of booking, not on arrival. Room was well appointed and clean with some nice facilities. When we went to the bar as residents following a party in the function room, the member of staff supervising was quite abrupt about us ordering drinks and needing us to call the night porter. If you are going to offer drinking in the bar after last orders for residents, then it should be part of the service with a smile, not an inconvenience which we were made to feel like it was. Breakfast the next day felt a little awkward with the person who was serving us. Food however was very tasty and poached eggs cooked very well. Overall, an underwhelming stay which was a shame.

Friend chose fish and chips and I chose sea bass, with mange tout, baby potatoes- delicious then dessert bread and butter pudding which was the equivalent of my grandmothers recipe and not many desserts surpass her dessert but this was superb. Only gripe - tip was added automatically which I did not see when paying and therefore gave another tip - so be careful when paying here. Great views over beach and staff very relaxed not rushing you but attentive when required.

Having been a frequent visitor to The Cliff Hotel for the last 30 years, I was so disappointed, with both the service and the food at a baby shower I attended.

The staff were very pleasant however the service provided was poor. We waited over an hour for the food to come through. There were so many mix up with the food as they had no idea who was doing what. This was not the waitresses fault but the manager who just left them to it.
When visitors requested a further pot or tea or coffee, these were not provided, again as no-one know had oversight of what was being requested and who the order was taken by.

The quality of the food was so disappointing. The sandwiches were bland, and not appealing.
The scones were tiny, dry/stale and most definitely not made on site. ( In previous years when I have had a cream tea these were magnificent and fresh still warm from the oven) The other cakes again were not prepared on site, and poor quality.

I fully understand in the current economical climate every one is trying to save money. But compromising the quality of your food will in the long run cause you to loose customers.

I was not the only one to feel this way on the day, but in true British form to do not like to cause a fuss.

I however have no issue in informing you of poor service and quality. What I paid £27.95 was incredibly over priced for the experience.

Hotel has great character. Stayed in a family room. Unfortunately the sofa bed mattress was a bit battered and the children kept rolling into each other in the middle. Room was clean. Few items not working, one bedside light and toilet holder was very wobbly and broken. Shower was good. Room was clean. Complementary water and biscuits much appreciated. Didnt sample the food as went out for dinner and breakfast. Staff very friendly.
