My husband and I visited Saturday evening for a meal with my Dad and his partner.
We were quite excited to try this pub since its refurb as we had popped in for a drink a few weeks before and liked the atmosphere.
Sadly we were disappointed! Whilst the service was good I did feel ‘stood over’ by the waiting staff whilst eating. We found the menu very limited and overpriced for the quality of the dishes we received. I had the fish & chips which was described as beer battered, I would expect this to be a light crispy batter, instead it was flat and tasteless, the crushed peas were awful unsure what they were seasoned with but had a horrible taste.
My husband and Father had steak which was ok but did not live up to the price tag, also my husband did not get the pepper corn sauce he ordered, to be fair the servers brought some over but was watery and tasteless. My Father’s partner had the fish pie which she said she enjoyed.
Half way through the meal the live singer started which I have to say was very good however was very load and at times we found it hard to hear each other talk.
Overall, disappointing, overpriced with a very limited menu. Sadly will not be returning.

Went for lunch today, staff very pleasant and friendly, beer was very good. Really tasty fresh bread platter and probably the best macaroni cheese I've ever had. Hope to come back before too long.

After a lovely walk along the beach, we had lunch at the Black Horse. The service was exceptional. All of the staff were extremely friendly and efficient I ordered the fish pie and was told that they didn't have any but the barman asked in the kitchen and they made one for me. It was very good and the vegetables were perfect. My friend had the tofu with rice noodles and she said that was excellent. It's definitely somewhere I would go back to if I was in the area. I liked that the toilets were individual cubicles and the entire pub seemed to be very clean and it's great that they allow dogs in too. An extremely pleasant experience

Great Sunday roast with outstanding service. Pub fitted the 14 of us in with short notice and made a particular effort with the large number of children. Could not fault the food or service. We will be back.

I should also add they were super helpful with info on the local area too.

3 of us had fish and chips, priced on the menu for £18, but we were charged £60 in total ordering ourselves at the bar. It was very overpriced, chips cooked well but the fish was bland. I won’t be returning for food. Nice enough pub however, for a drink.

We visited the Black Horse yesterday for lunch.
The service was great, can’t fault it.
The setting, decor etc also lovely.
However, the tenderstem broccoli with my dish was clearly way past it’s use by date as the tips were yellow. As was the salad on my husband plate, there was a lot of brown edged leaves!
One half of my son’s burger bun was black from being burnt!
The rest of the food was ok.
Such a let down that a chef served food that way, basic mistakes and not taking consideration of food freshness.

Booked for New Years Eve but had to cancel because we had flu - telephoned to let them know so they could re-book the table - paid £130 up front - no refund or part refund or voucher to spend when we felt better ….not even an email ! - just took the money - so No we would not recommend to family, friends or anyone - no customer service they could not care less. Both my Husband and I are business owners in Littlehampton and we would not treat our customers like this - extremely disappointed and certainly will not be spending any of our money with the Black Horse in future !
