Had a wonderful two night stay the second weekend of February 2025 - Susan and Robert were extremely accommodating of the fact I had to arrive late on the Friday night due to work, and made me feel welcome and at ease. I stayed in the Swan and River room, which was beautifully made up and very comfortable (and with an excellent view!), and Susan gave me plenty of information both prior to arrival and on arrival for what I could do in the area during my time there. Breakfast was delightful and brought to my room in a hamper at an arranged time, and the common areas of the A Barn were available for relaxation and additional tea and coffee supplies if I needed them. They're conveniently located for walks and also exploring Amberley, and I left feeling refreshed and will definitely be letting friends and family know about this gem.

Susan and Robert welcomed us and were super nice and friendly. They gave us all the info we needed regarding the room and the area. The room is spacious, comfortable, and fully equipped with everything possible.
Susan pays attention to the smallest, and her homemade breakfast was our best.
The view from the room is breathtaking! Cannot wait to come back.

Absolutely stunning spot with amazing views. We booked the observatory and Susan was extremely helpful and accommodating straight away - she sent us a lovely email giving us lots of guidance on travel and things to do in the local area, she also took on board our dietary requirements and provided a welcome hamper with gluten free and vegan snacks. The observatory was spotless and had everything we needed, a lovely break in the middle of the beautiful South Downs. Robert even gave us a lift to the station, so we were very well looked after. We'd highly recommend South Downs Stays and will hopefully return soon! Thank you Susan and Robert

Beautiful scenery, luxurious rooms and a royal breakfast: we absolutely loved our stay here. The children enjoyed their break here during our hike along the South Downs Way and loved the dog Sky. The renovation is done with so much detail and beautiful materials and the host, Suzan, was really friendly. Will definitely come back one day!

I had the pleasure of staying at A Barn in South Downs and I could not praise it enough. From the very first moment my stay was nothing short of perfection. Susan & Robert could not have done more to make my stay so comfortable and their hospitality was second to none. The accommodation is so beautiful and everything looks brand new and not a spec of dust anywhere even though it’s country side. The views from every room are spectacular and I would love to return and I will be recommending this fantastic place to family & friends. Beautiful garden and fresh flowers in every room added an extra special touch Thank you both so very much xx❤️❤️🙏🙏

We had an amazing weekend stay. The Observatory has everything, really everything that you would need. On top of that, Susan and Robert go above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. And the view of the night sky is wonderful since we were hoping to catch a meteor shower and stargazing on this occassion.
Definitely recommended South Down stay to anyone who wants to explore South Down and the surrounding area.

My husband and I stayed this weekend in this absolutely wonderful top class bed &breakfast . It was certainly the most luxurious b&b we have ever had the pleasure to stay . Our welcome was very warm and nothing was to much trouble for our lovely host who provided us with a wonderful breakfast on both mornings.The views were gorgeous and we can’t wait to make a return visit in the near future 😃 definitely worth a visit
