Ah, Madisons, the bistro CafĆ©, where appearances are everything, and substance is an afterthought. Let me paint you a picture: Imagine pulling over to a cafe that’s nestled in a building site, inside one of the ā€˜warehouse’s’ is an establishment that would appeal to the Costa del Sol holiday set. The sign screams "Costa del Paradiso," but inside, it’s more like ā€œBurnt Offering Central.ā€

First up, I ordered a teacake. How hard could it be, right? Well, imagine my surprise when I was served what appeared to be a hockey puck in disguise. This teacake was so burnt I half-expected it to come with an apology from the fire department.

Next, I investigated the shiny ā€˜butter’, it was a suspiciously yellowish substance that tasted like my childhood nightmares of margarine. I think even the butter knife felt betrayed.

Now, let’s talk about the coffee. If you're a fan of unique flavors, you’re in for a treat – but not the good kind. The coffee tasted like someone had carefully handpicked, roasted, and burnt kidney beans. It had an earthy aroma with subtle hints of "Please end this suffering." I wasn’t sure if I was drinking coffee or taking part in some obscure, bean-based torture ritual.

On the bright side, the dĆ©cor was what you’d imagine next to a garden centre and a place selling sheds. So, if you ever need a place to snap an Instagram photo while secretly sobbing over your culinary choices, Madisons is your spot. Just remember to bring your own snacks... and maybe a therapist.

Just had an excellent lunch at Madisons with my granddaughter. I had omelette, chips and beetroot coleslaw, and my granddaughter had cheese and leek pie, with chips and peas. We also both indulged ourselves with apple pie and chocolate fudge cake, both with ice cream. Naughty, but very nice. Everything cooked to perfection, well presented, and nice and hot. Service was friendly and welcoming. The latte was also delicious, and even the toilets need a mention, as very clean, and baby and sanitary products provided free of charge - an added bonus, although I couldn’t take advantage of either of them.
Only recently opened, but I can’t recommend it highly enough. I will definitely be paying it another visit, and wish the new owners every success in their new venture. Thank you so much.
