Comfortable hotel, very convenient for the M5, with plenty of free parking. The King room was clean and quiet, even though it faced the main road. The restaurant food at dinner was very good and the staff attentive and pleasant. However, the overall positive experience was lessened by the quality of the breakfast. The positioning of the breakfast buffet is cramped and the layout confusing, the hot food was more like lukewarm, the thin orange juice tasted very watered down - almost like very diluted squash, rather than proper juice - and the coffee was weak and tasteless. It sounds hypercritical but we have had very good breakfasts in quite budget hotels so it shouldn't be difficult to provide something of quality, especially given the price. Our room rate included breakfast but if we had paid separately it would have cost at least £17pp.

The staff at The Gables were all very welcoming and helpful. |We had the accessible room with the adjoining double room. 123/124. |Both were good. The accessible room especially good after what appears to have been a refurb. |The bed was 6 foot (or 2 singles) and there was plenty of space for a walker. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped. |Both rooms had clean towels and bedding. The beds were very comfortable. |Would recommend for any travelling with someone who uses a walker or is infirm

Massive comfortable bed. Bath/shower was good. Room clean and tidy. Wi fi was ok.|Free parking was good.|The staff were pleasant enough. Bar service was a bit hit and miss. Had to look for staff.|I was surprised that the room was not refreshed or bed made. Only 2 night stop but apparently, lots of hotels are doing this now.|I wouldn't rush back but the experience was ok.

Really good hotel with decent rooms and excellent service. It is a bit remote though, so having a car is essential if you want to explore. The restaurant staff were also friendly and the food at Marcos restaurant was delicious. The breakfast has typical English breakfast options as well as a continental spread, and the dinner options ranged from burgers to pasta to pizza.

oh dear here we go -stayed at this hotel quite a few time AND NOW 2 NEW YEARS EVE DOES the first was 2023/4 the BOTH boilers broke down on the morning -it happens sods law one break and then the other we've all had that happen with things so we accepted that .Since been to a couple of tribute nights in the last year and stayed over night always very good and entertaining so rebooked New Year 2024/2025 .|NOT GOOD menu was Awful (the year before was excellent) and room acceptable but not all the lights in room were working -again bulbs break it happens -BUT NO HOT WATER AGAIN is TOTALLY UN-ACCEPTABLE the water in the morning was AT BEST warm so NO SHOWER or NO BATH and yes we reported to the receptionist who like all the staff were very polite and welcoming otherwise you would have been receiving a 1 star .!! |Such a shame to have to write this report when overall the staff are very helpful but management need to sort the basics out like sufficient hot water capacity for a hotel of this size .If you want the guest ie Weddings ,Banquets, Tribute nights -GET IT RIGHT or people will vote with their feet ! .

I took my nearly 90 yo mother out to lunch. To say it was disappointing is an understatement! On arrival I felt like I was being an imposition! Asked if they served lunch, he virtually threw a plastic menu at me and said, there’s this! There was one other couple in the place ( I should have seen the red flag! 🤦🏻‍♀️) my steak was over cooked and we were served frozen chips! When I eventually found the ‘waiter’ I use that term in the loosest sense of the word! I told him my steak was over cooked, to which he replied “really?” And came over to check! He took it away saying they’d replace it! By the time he came back with a much better steak, my mother had finished, so it was a rushed and uncomfortable meal! |He did come over and ask if my steak was better, I agreed it was. But when I went to pay, I said it was a disappointing meal, he proceeded to tell me off! That I should have told him, I said I didn’t expect to be served frozen chips from a bag, he tried to argue the point! I said “I’m a chef, I know the difference!” He said “oh ok I’ll knock of the price of one meal! “ I said I didn’t really care, the whole thing was spoilt anyway! Because of the delay in my meal! |I would not recommend this place if it was the last place in the planet! There is a total lack of care and now I know why it was empty!

Nice hotel, easy to get to and find off the M5. Room a bit tired and dated. No air-conditioning. Heating ok but not massively effective. Decent enough for a one-night stay.

This hotel needs a complete update!|The rooms were very tired and dated (room 122 and 123) with wall paper peeling, curtains hanging off the rail, bits and hair on the carpet and spiders on the coving.|Room 123 was absolutely freezing when we checked in and we had to borrow a fan heater to help warm up the room.|Mold in the shower, and around the sink. Plug in sink didn't work.|We stayed for 10 and 9 days and were told that house keeping wouldn't be in every day, which was fine but they never came in at all. We had to ask for replacement toilet rolls and tissues. |The hallway was freezing (the radiators weren't turned on).|They gave us ground floor rooms at the back of the hotel, 3 rooms along from the party room which meant we had some very loud and late nights. With party goers frolicking in the hallways until 3am. Not great for my 88 year old mother who doesn't sleep well at the best of times.|I would not recommend anyone to stay here.||On a positive note the staff in the restaurant were friendly and the food was good (but expensive).
