A late booking as we suddenly found ourselves with a few days to spare and so decided to return to this little gem, tucked away a mile or so from Kingsbridge.||We turned up late in the evening, but no problem as the key was left in our cottage door waiting for us. We stayed in Riverside, a beautiful 3-bed cottage with a lounge, dining room and perfectly sized kitchen. Firewood was already on hand in the cottage so we could get a roaring fire going upon arrival, it didn't take long to forget your troubles and feel at ease. All bedrooms were clean and comfortable with real charm.||The scenery in the morning was just breathtaking. So much care and attention has been taken by the owners to make this place so beautiful. Everywhere you look is clean and tidy. The indoor pool was just a pleasure and the brickwork contained in all of the buildings is just mesmerising. The snooker room allowed for friendly family fun, kids should never challenge Fathers to snooker or pool! The gym was avoided for obvious reasons, this was a relaxing break and as I avoid the gym at home, I thought it best to remain consistent.||Time for fishing. The lake is plenty big enough as it is restricted to anglers who are staying at the Mill. It is fed by the river running alongside it and is just filled with life all around. The fishing was incredibly rewarding too with 13 beautiful carp caught over 3 days. Most were over 10lb, one to 15lb and they fought like stink. There are far bigger ones in there, maybe a more experienced fisherman than I would have lured them out, but I am an amateur with limited experience so was more than happy with my haul. The natural weed cover in some parts of the lake made the fishing far more interesting than your usual fishery where you expect a fish a chuck in a featureless lake. This place is for the angler who enjoys the art and can fully appreciate all of the surroundings at the same time.||Locally, there is so much to do. A wonderful trip to Buckfastleigh where we took the steam train into Totnes for market day. Dinner at the Crabshell Inn one evening, the food was lovely although the service has declined I felt since the ownership changed. If you get a chance, visit any of the bakeries in Kingsbridge, ignore your waistline, and just go for it - divine.||Linda and Tony are so welcoming and allow you to really feel part of the place whilst you enjoy your stay there. A return is certainly a must in the New Year and I'm already looking forward to it.|||Richard|Family of 3 adults and one teenager

There are two sides to this review, fishing and accommodation.|Malston Mill Farm was advertised as a fishing holiday but when we got there the lake was covered in weed and it made any serious fishing impossible. To be able to fish we had to look up other local fisheries and had to travel to them and pay their respective fisheries. The owner did explain about the problem they had with the weed which they had had for a time but this did not stop them advertising as a fishing holiday. 1 out of 5 for fishing.|We were booked into the Lakeside cottage which although nicely appointed was very cramped, for instance the only table for eating was a small gate legged one that hardly had enough room to put a full meal on. The four poster took up most of the bedroom and you had to turn sideways to walk between one of the posts and the bed to get to the bathroom. The amenities such as indoor swimming pool, sauna and games room were good. 3 out of 5 for the “luxury accommodation”.|We left a day early, disappointed to say the least. There are plenty of better places for fishing with accommodation at a lot lower price.

We've just returned from our family holiday at Mill Cottage, Malston Mill Farm.

The cottage was well equipped and absolutely immaculate. The beds were like clouds, it was lovely to lay in bed listening to the birds and stream. A fully private garden with barbecue made it perfect for our family gathering.

We didn't venture too far as there's plenty to do at the farm. My 4 year old thoroughly enjoyed the games room and jacuzzi in particular.
You can swim in the outdoor pool with the most wonderfully scented roses surrounding you.

Well located for beautiful towns and beaches if you wish to have a trip out.

Thank you to the most accommodating and friendly hosts.

Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.

We booked a self catering cottage by a lake as we have never tried this kind of holiday before and were we pleased we did! We stayed in the Lakeside cottage a small but extremely well presented and tastefully decorated in a traditional country cottage feel. On arrival Lyn found us and took us to Lakeside and gave us a brief but informative explanation of the basics like oven & shower operation. We quickly unpacked and then went exploring. The indoor swimming pool was spotless and just the right temperature for a summer month (August). The outdoor pool was just as clean and surrounded by ample room to layout. Loungers and cushions are supplied. As I like to cast a line now and again the adjoining lake looked fabulous although somewhat covered in weed due to it being fed by a brook that collects water from the farm fields nearby, but to Lyn and Tony’s credit the weed was cleared most days. You are invited to place your fishing gear in an individual lockable secure outbuilding near to the lake which was perfect. Malston feels like you are almost the only guests there whereas in reality there are six cottage style accommodations catering for couples to families, but it never feels that you are ever crowded. Lyn & Tony have gone the extra mile to make your stay at Malston is unforgettable. If you seek tranquility and a calming space then Malston is for you. The comfort and facilities accorded are second to none. Lyn even went as far as to give us a brief overview of the mills history and the personal development that both Lyn and Tony have given to Malston. I defy anyone to say that Malston does not push the bar to new heights in affording every guest that special feeling of luxury at a very affordable price. A special touch on arrival was a bottle of fizz with two glasses. Thank you Tony & Lyn for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

We have just returned after a week at Malston Mill Farm. We were a party of 9 encompassing 3 generations ranging from 7 years of age to 73 years of age. |Linda and Tony are the most wonderfully welcoming hosts to this beautiful venue set in beautiful grounds. All the accommodation is well equipped with extremely comfortable beds.|The range of activities is amazing. No one was bored, the phones and tablets took second place to the enjoyment of the youngest generation (7 -17)9 more importantly it was safe for children giving them freedom to roam and the parents confidence in their safety|After full days of activities, swimming, tennis, fishing, zip wire, sauna, jacuzzi etc. we enjoyed barbecues by the outdoor pool followed by an evening of skittles, pool or snooker. |If you are looking for a more intimate relaxed break I can assure you that you will also find it here. |Full credit to Tony and Linda for creating such a wonderful venue. Truly they think of everything even a laundry.|I cannot recommend this venue highly enough.

My husband and I were the first guests of 2024. We stayed in Dairy cottage and it was beautiful. |I used the pool daily, and we used the games room, where I realised I'm rubbish at pool. |Linda was extremely helpful and there if you needed anything but not intrusive.| The lake was in the process of having all the weeds pulled out.|They have a washing machine and tumble dryer for guests.|They also have a gorgeous dog. |We intend to return as it was very relaxing. We would 100% recommend
